these little beauties, equally ephemeral are Japan’s Nemophila, or Baby Blue Eyes. And once a year, around late April to Early May, an astounding sea of 5.3 million of these little flowers cover the land for a little over a week.

Hitachi Seaside Park is located on the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture, a little over 2 hours north of Tokyo. There, according to this helpful flower calendar, 5.3 million of these Baby Blue Eyes paint the hills blue in Spring in an event referred to as “Nemophila Harmony.” And according to the calendar, peak bloom is a bit earlier this year: April 15th – 22, 2023.

A Bright Idea ... (There really is a record for everything!)

Three Boeing aerospace engineers put their credentials to the test and broke the world record for the farthest flight by a paper airplane. (There really is a record for everything!) After nearly 500 hours of origami folding and studying aerodynamics, Nathan Erickson, Dillon Ruble and Garrett Jensen got their design to fly a whopping 289 feet, 9 inches -- almost the length of an American football field. The trio says they were inspired by various hypersonic aircraft, and everything from the angle of the path (40 degrees off the ground) to the type of paper (A4) had to be meticulously tested.

Who would not want to see the Baby Blue Eye Flowers with one's own eyes. Jacki, the photos you chose show how delicate and lovely they are. And this magical color is enchanting. The short time they only can be admired make them even more precious.

Yes, I agree and thank you, Elenor. I haven't seen them in real life, just in the photos, but even that is a treat?
