Day 1161: What a great day!

cliff, collage postcard

What a great day!
Co-pilot, artist, friend Valerie & I went to LA ...

47 miles and four freeways to the Broad, LA 's newest museum

The Broad is a new contemporary art museum built by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The museum, which is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler will offer free general admission. The museum is home to the nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. With its innovative “veil-and-vault” concept, the 120,000-square-foot, $140-million building will feature two floors of gallery space to showcase The Broad’s comprehensive collection and will be the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library.

We expected great and it was even better ...

I took over 180 photos, so editing is problematic.

Day 1160: With little rhyme or reason ...

Gilda+, digital collage

Do you know Thomas?  Thomas LaBadia?

Surely one of the art world's most generous beings.
He finds wonderful artists and showcases them here,
for us to enjoy and draw inspiration.
And, he shares marvelous resource materials
that we can play with, guilt free.
An artist and a busy art director!
He assures me that he sleeps,
but I think he must have extra hours in his day?

...

So today, when I was set up for other work,
I started playing digitally with 5 images.
4 from Thomas and 1 from me, can you tell which?

With little rhyme or reason, I started layering,
erasing, blending and just playing.

Day 1159: Veni Vidi Vici

castle, collage postcard

Doing this daily, silly blog I try to hunt meaningful
or funny titles to accompany the day & number.

Okay I didn't "come, see or conquer", but I did ...
swim, cook and do artwork ...
close enough.

step 1

step 2

step 3

step 4

To be honest, I almost stopped with #4, but ...

step 5

now ready to address and mail ...

Sunday evening, I joined neighbors to watch ...
the total lunar eclipse of the blood moon.
In case you didn't get to see it, look at what
photographer extraordinaire,  Shannon Cottrell captured . . .

Thank you Shannon!

Day 1158: TMI Headquarters

rina-anime, paper &  digital collage

Posting every day,  slow news days are inevitable.
But I fearlessly, maybe foolishly, show up anyway.

looking up

Today bombarding you with the useless, trivial and mundane.

looking down

Feel free to skip to the smile, if that is your persuasion.
For you hardy ones ...
I headed out on errands and saw this ...

Not only the 66666, but 85 degrees!
Seeming so comfortable after our many triple digit days.
I am on my way to take donations to the thrift store,
mail a few postcards at the local post office and ...
believe it or not, get groceries.

Our local Ralph's grocery store has reopened as a  ...

which combines groceries and bulk needs.
I liked it and was hungry, so my refrigerator  ...
no longer looks like a bachelor's. TMI?

...

What is filling your weekend? I'd love to hear.
Thanks for stopping by.
