Started off my morning re-listening to the Ted talk, here.
10 ways to have a better conversation by Celeste Headlee.
Sounds dreary but it's not, she's funny, enlightening and
I need to listen to it often, till it sinks all the way in.

A beautiful Friday here in SoCal.
Trash out, did laundry and watered my little yard.
Seems to me there is a different tempo on Fridays?
Traffic is more hurried, people seem more rushed?
Me too, I teach tomorrow and need to organize.

But as I worked, I kept coming back to this tiny journal.
I would see little snippets that would be perfect for a page.
So even though not done by any means ...
I am showing some pages that are coming along.
Little works in progress ...

Thanks for visiting, wishing you an extra special weekend,
doing what you like to do with those you like to be with.

All kinds of journalling.

Two years ago, friend & wonderful artist Beatriz Helton, gifted
me with this exquisite hand-bound tiny 2-1/4 x 3-1/4" journal.
I treasure it and have saved it for something special.

Today I filled every page with my words.
Worries, problems & feelings.  It is very personal.

I plan to add on to every page.
Eventually submerging most of my words

under paint, drawing, collage & whatever happens.

Once all pages were painted, I started adding.

Making starts, which are a work in progress,

ready for all kinds of add-ons.

Not a one day project, but a good start.

Fun to look forward to.
Thank you Beatriz!

Good friend Valerie, came over Tuesday.
She let me unload my worries & fears. And, she
was the impetus to help me start purging art stuff.
You probably can imagine my dilemna?
I have too much stuff. I love paper & even junk mail???
We filled one large cardboard box with collage ephemera.
Valerie took it immediately to her car, so I couldn't renege.
She will take it to St. Joseph's Convent where she teaches art.
We made a dent, and it has encouraged me to continue.
A long road ahead.

I am so touched by many of you who felt my darkness
and reached out with kindness and love.
Actually I am, and my family are fine, so blessed in fact.
My dark mood and tears comes from two long-time friends
who are in a situation that I can't fix.
I've prayed and looked at it from every angle and
I am learning that I can't fix everything. Another lesson.
I am not in charge, though I spend time trying to be.
Thank you again.

In the "too good not to share" department:

I heard a great TED talk today,
so good I should listen to it daily!

It's 10 ways to have a better conversation by Celeste Headlee.
She is excellent, funny, 11 minutes goes by like 5, and it's here.
When you have time, I think you'd enjoy it. Let me know?
