World's largest blue diamond to come to auction has sold for $57.5 million?

The world's largest blue diamond ever to auction has sold for 450,925,000 HKD, or $57.5 million.

Named "The De Beers Cullinan Blue," the massive 15.10-carat step-cut gem sold at Sotheby's in Hong Kong after an eight-minute bidding war among four hopeful buyers, according to Sotheby's. The winning bid, which surpassed its high estimate of $48 million, came from an anonymous buyer.

The rare diamond was found in South Africa's Cullinan mine in 2021, and it has attained the highest rankings judged for colored diamonds.

Update

I have mentioned a favorite blogger, Carol Mulvenon, who showed a hand-painted banner
on a garage door.

"Chris and I have a regular rotation of neighborhood walking routes, but we like to mix things up every once in a while by taking a short drive for some different vistas. Today our destination was up on campus, for the the big trees, hills, and the pond. A nice change of pace."

This brought back a special memory.

Once, 30+ years ago, I saw a tiny house in Brea,
where a sign was painted on the whole side of the house,  in large clumsy letters ...
 "I love you, Darlene".

It left the observer to make up their own story.
I pictured maybe an argument and a creative husband? I look at that house every time I go by it.
The house has long since been repainted,
but I still remember.

I think you pray every night that the next day you will be able to change themes. But you have never wavered your support. You express the travesties of war and the strength of a people just trying to hold on. Thank you. :-)

Thank you, John. I can barely listen to the news, it is so tragic. I so appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
