2GN2S ...

Breathtaking prints by National Geographic photographers on sale in aid of Ukraine

Emperor penguins can be seen releasing millions of micro-bubbles from their feathers in Canadian Paul Nicklen's photo. The feathers lubricate their bodies and reduce friction as they rocket through frigid Antarctic waters.

Stunning works by National Geographic photographers from around the world are on sale as part of a project to raise money for humanitarian relief in Ukraine. The project is organized by the nonprofit organization Vital Impacts, and 100% of the profits will go to Direct Relief, which is providing medical aid to people affected by the war. The collection includes beautiful moments in nature and everyday life. There's a touch of glamor from Nigeria, a friendly meeting in India, a foggy day in New York City and, above, a moment of joy for Ukrainian students gathering in Kyiv to celebrate the end of school in 2018. "The hope is that this work will inspire everyone who sees it to work for a world of peace and compassion," Ami Vitale, a co-founder of Vital Impacts, told CNN. See the full collection, here.

This was taken on May 30, 2018 in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, by Ukrainian-born photographer Dina Litovsky. After the Last Bell ceremony in schools, students from around the city go to the Podil area of Kyiv to bathe in a fountain.

Polish photographer Justyna Mielnikiewicz took this photo of the Ukrainian Sloviansk and Kramatorsk school dance group competition in April 2015.

Robin Hamm"Lagos is very bubbly society, it's a lovely city. It's not too much infrastructure but it's somewhere where you can make things happen,"

Manisha and Jasmin Singh pause in the Baoli, an ancient step well in a village near the city of Jaipur outside of India's Thar desert. The image was captured by Ami Vitale.

This 40-second video was really special. I enjoyed it. But I also enjoyed your collage on a not at all funny theme and all these excellent pictures in your 2GN2S story.
Happy Friday, Jacki!

I can’t believe how many ideas you come up with for art to support the Ukraine. You amaze me. :-)

Thanks, Elenor. I am at my daughter's house with the two grand-dog until Sunday, and dog time is a much more relaxed time. You are a day ahead, so I will wish you a Happy Saturday and great weekend.

Amazing War Zone! Liking it a lot!
How do you do it_ posting your new art work, unique photos and interesting stories daily. Do you live in a 24/7 world like we do? Sleep well Jacki!

Aww, thanks Amelia! The blog has taken over my journal time. I am not sure if I get the same benefit, but it does keep me mentally active. The blog takes about 2 hours, usually late at night. Sometime, I do take a previous art work and rework it, if that's cheating, it's also a time saver late at night. Wishing you a great Friday and weekend. Thanks for visiting my silly blog. ;o)
