Update ...

I go many weekends without leaving the house. It's peaceful days, no calls and I can be as sloth-like as I please. But this weekend is busy.

It got an early start Friday night with a triple date with three handsome young men, more here.

And today, Saturday, I drove to Long Beach, about a 35 minute drive, on the 55 > 22 > 5 freeways ...

to meet great friend, Irene at Claire's for brunch.

Irene knows all the best places, and Claire's falls into that category. Claire's is a 5 star rated, upscale restaurant offering globally accented American fare, cocktails & a scenic oceanfront patio.

Located on the beautifully landscaped campus of the Long Beach Art Museum, in between the two main buildings, Claire's is under yellow umbrellas overlooking the Long Beach bay, and an unobstructed view of the Queen Mary and Catalina Island.

We ordered the Country breakfast  (2 eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and choice of toast) and the Lemon Ricotta pancakes (with blueberry compote, whipped cream) and split both. Happy campers.

Our table was next to the Claire Falkenstein sculpture, and the origin of their choosing the name Claire's for the restaurant.

Claire Falkenstein (1908 - 1997) was an American sculptor, painter, printmaker, jewelry designer, and teacher, most renowned for her often large-scale abstract metal

What a great day! Thank you, Irene!

As I walked to my car on Ocean Boulevard, I saw

I had never seen this flower before. It looked like it was made from crepe paper?

These were all just off the sidewalk by my car.

A fun 2-minute video, Manatee feedinghere.

Feeding time for Phoenix (right) an injured manatee at Seaquarium in Miami, Florida. Manatee on the left is Juliet who was rescued from the Miami river in 1958. we need to watch out for these slow but majestic creatures while boating.

When looking at the images from the Ukraine that is exactly what I see, chaos. Great symbolism of the concept.

That's such beautiful day to meet a friend and spend some good time together.
The little flowers are lovely. I too love the white one, I suppose it is Cistus . They don't grow here. In Crete you can find them when you stay there in the right season. So I know it mostly from the books.
Great collage again, Jacki!

Dear Jacki, I love that you looked up the information about Claire's!. The afternoon with you was a pure delight. It had been too long that we hadn't done that. Let's not wait that long again. xo
