2GN2S ...

Salzburger Nockerl

In yesterday's blog, I mentioned my curiosity for cultural eating habits for the holidays or New Years. Austrian artist/friend Elenor, replied with these mouth-watering photos and comments.

"Good morning!
I wanted to show you what we prepare each Silvester as dessert: its called Salzburger Nockerl. That can't hardly be translated.  From a cook's point of view it is related to the french sweet souffles (beaten white of egg, small amount of wheat flour, sugar, vanilla...), usually baked in butter, in the oven.
First I want to tell the how-to: You will need 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of sugar and one TS of flour, a pinch of salt."

1. separate the eggs (from the yokes),and beat the egg whites and sugar until stiff.

2. Stir the yokes, add the flour very gently into it.

3. Put in a greased dish, bake in a preheated oven.

"I bake the Salzburger Nockerl in a preheated oven at about 360 F for maybe 8 to 10 minutes. They should already have a bit of color (not too dark! look at the pic!) and they should still be very creamy inside - as you can imagine looking at this pic closely."

I forgot to mention that the amount PER PERSON  1 egg, 1 TS sugar, 1 ts flour, pinch of salt, ....

So , for 2 persons you use 2 eggs, ..... and so on.

Elenor also said "If you like to use it on your blog (it's absolutely okay if you don't) please correct all my wrong words." But, I didn't find any?

I replied, "Got them, thanks!  Great photos! Thank you, Elenor! These are wonderful! People will love seeing them and probably trying them!

Thanks again.

I know I have said this previously but I want to be a little bird sitting on your shoulder while you create. I kind of get that view when you do a series of steps. Thanks for that, too.

What a cute angel, Jacki! The colors are marvelous. And the striped leggings - brilliant. I love every little bit of "Ready Angel".
Do you have plans for tomorrow? I hope you will share some pics of the last day of this crazy year.
Do you make a look back at the year's events or do you make a resolution for the New Year?

Thanks John, I am flattered that you would like to be here, I feel so blessed that we have been able to work together, like in our rented home in NB, and in you SOCAL classes.

Thank you, Elenor. I think I may have enough angels to finish the year, if not maybe I could do a quick retrospective of favorites. I am staying home these days, so that may b doable. I rarely have plans for New Years Eve, so this year will will be no different. On New Years Day I often spend with family friends, but I think that won't happen this year because of the &^%$# Covid.
