Pantone unveils Color of the Year for 2022
While
many of us will spend the final days of 2021 reflecting on its
whirlwind events, global color authority Pantone has already been busy
looking ahead -- to decide on the shade that will best encapsulate 2022.
On
Wednesday it unveiled Very Peri, a periwinkle hue that the company says
combines the steady tranquility of blue with an energetic infusion of
red. It's the first time the company has manufactured a color instead of
delving into their pre-existing archive, a decision that was a vital
element of this year's selection process.
"It was really important for us to come up with a new color, because we have a very new vision of the world now," said Pantone Color Institute's Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman in a video call.
This social justice buzzword is Dictionary.com's Word of the Year
Dictionary.com has chosen a term new to its online reference service for its Word of the Year -- a word that, it says, "acts as a powerful prism through which to view the defining events and experiences of 2021."
"Allyship" is Dictionary.com's 2021 Word of the Year,
the online dictionary announced Monday. It's the first time,
Dictionary.com said, that a word has been named the year's top term the
same year it was added to the dictionary.The online dictionary defines
"allyship" as "the status or role of a person who advocates and
actively works for the inclusion of a marginalized or politicized group
in all areas of society, not as a member of that group but in solidarity
with its struggle and point of view and under its leadership."

Very Peri or other periwinkle hues have beed one of my favorite colors for years now.
Lockdown will end next week on Friday. That's the best news for me today.
