Update:

Months ago, I drew a sketch for a 14x14" wide canvas, as a commission.

Jane collects my work, and gives me free reign.

my original idea in a quick sketch

I felt she was a Gatsby type lady, and asked for help
with a name, Norma came up with Daisy! Perfect!

I wrap the tissue around all canvas edges.

deciding on orange for the hair, so far.

base work done, almost.
This was definitely not finished, maybe half done.
I just wasn't happy with how she was turning out.
Last week, I gesso'd the canvas, and Daisy is long gone.

Today, I did this quick sketch on the back of an envelope.

I remember Jane saying her Mom wore big hats, so that came to mind. But when I looked at the sketch there was a lot of room on top of that hat. I decided there might be a cat laying on that hat? Why not?

From there I sketched with graphite on the newly gesso'd canvas.
I planned to use the same turquoise background. I use both tissue paper and junk mail to collage with. I will use bright colors and probably circles and dots.

Lola has surfaced and is about half done? I had worked for about three hours and was too tired to continue today, but I decided to play with it digitally to see where I planned  to with her. More tomorrow?

"Lola": work-in-progress, collage on 14x14' heavy canvas, digital.

When she is finally done, in collage, I will post Lulu and we'll see how close I came?

Jacki, I hope you are better than the last smile suggests. I guess it is your shoulder?
The idea with the cat is superb and also to show all the steps.
Wishing you that your shoulder lets you sleep tonight, dear Jacki.

Thanks, Elenor, I am sleeping better lately,
I got my first vaccine shot today, so that's a help.
Wishing you a wonderful, safe week ahead with your family.
