The Japanese Art of Sleeping In

In 1767 Harunobu Suzuki created this print titled
Niwatori to Danjo (鶏と男女) which translates to
‘a rooster and a couple.’ It depicts a male and female
couple who have poured a cup of sake for the rooster
so that it doesn’t wake them up in the morning.

Judging by the look on its face, the rooster may have
caught on the couple’s plan.
This print, along with many others,
that is going on now through September 22, 2020.

Have a great weekend!

I can’t believe the destruction by fire of the amazing cathedral, Norte Dame. One would not think it possible that something made of stone could also be vulnerable. Yet it happened. The structure is sound and it will eventually be better and stronger. It has to be!

Excellent collage, Jacki! It expresses the destruction of the cathedral so exactly. We were that disturbed.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Thank you, John. Strangely, this is an old piece done before the fire?

Thanks, Elenor. Yes, it was and is still a tragedy. I did this collage prior to the fire? Strange, huh?
