As incredible as it sounds to us, both animals and humans need socialization. Nobody likes to be alone, loneliness makes us sad, that’s why we need someone who will be our friend.
Today’s story is about a bison who was alone for a long time, and then he found his best friend who changed everything.
Her name is Helen. Helen was alone for a long time, excluded from
the herd because of her handicap. She was alone on her owner’s farm in
Salem most of the time. As with us humans, so in the animal world,
people with disabilities are often ignored and rejected ….
Helen was transported to the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary in 2016 because her owner could no longer take care of her, she had more animals to play with, but she was always too scared and shy.
A calf named Oliver gave her a chance for a new and wonderful friendship. This small and cuddly calf runs all day from the barn to Helena’s pasture to spend the day with her. Helen was no longer lonely, and the change in her behavior was noticed by everyone: “Posture has become better, joy is visible,” shrine executive director Gwen Jakubisin told USA Today.
At one point, Oliver meant something like a child to Helen, and we all know how strong that connection is.
“I
catch them grooming themselves, which is amazing because I think Helen
has never had that opportunity to express that maternal instinct
before,” Jakubisin said.
Helen also got rid of her shyness little by little, she started to join the rest of the herd, she gets along well with all the animals on the farm. It is very interesting that Oliver’s brown pattern is more similar to Helen’s than to his biological mother, which is why Mr. Jakubsin joked: “He actually turned into a baby buffalo.”
This beautiful and above all unusual friendship shows us humans to accept differences, that there is no big difference in the feelings of people and animals, and that we all need someone who will love us regardless of all the differences and shortcomings.
She might have missed qualification for the semi-finals, but for Keula Nidreia Pereira Semedo it was the race that stole the day at the Paralympics.
A season best of 33.04 in the women’s 200m T11 saw Pereira Semedo from Cape Verde in the central Atlantic Ocean finish fourth.
But it is what happened next that stole the show.Having come in last in her heat, guide Manuel Antonio Vaz da Vega pulled over the rest of the athletes, dropped to the knee and asked his partner to marry him.
She said ‘yes’.
The rest of the athletes, all of whom are visually impaired and could not see, clapped wildly as they witnessed the romantic act unfold before them on the wet track at the Olympic Stadium.
* Baby steps: Despite nearly drowning as a newborn, Moyo the baby elephant overcame his deep-seated fear of water. Let Moyo be the inspiration we need to conquer whatever anxieties we might be feeling at the moment.
Thanks for coming by today.

Your 2GN2S stories are heart warming. It's much better to hear such stories than all the bad news shared on TV. To know there are people or even animals who make the world a better place is such a delight.
Happy weekend, dear Jacki.
Love the Buffalo/calf story. Love the blue in Jane. :-)
Thank you dear Elenor for your kind words of encouragement. Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend.
