Motorless Journey

This man is traveling the world on non-motorized transport.  This summer, Canadian firefighter Markus Pukonen is due to arrive back in his home city of Toronto, seven years after beginning an epic quest to circumnavigate the world using just his “muscles and some wind.”

The adventurer has walked, canoed, kayaked, cycled, tricycled, skied, rowed, trimaranded, rafted, sailed, and stand-up paddleboarded his way across 29 countries.

“No planes. No trains. No cars. Not even an elevator,” Pukonen says of his epic adventure, which has seen him travel around 80,000 kilometers without using motorized transport.

With various expeditions under his belt previously, including paddling down the Mississippi River, Pukonen had been mulling over attempting this particular trip for a long time.

But it wasn’t until he discovered that his father had just a few weeks to live that he finally decided to take the leap.

Update

I got into Las Vegas at almost 9 PM last night so am now in Henderson, Nevada for a few days. I usually include plane photos for the blog, but it was night time and I thought nothing to see? But I was wrong?

(excuse glare from interior)

Even though dark out, I was amazed by the horizon, a bright red line just below the horizon. I had never seen it before?

Every trip here we have gone to Hemingway Park to see the big horned sheep who come down from mountains and feed on the lush green park grass. We never had the right timing until this morning.

They knew we were there, but liked the grass

On the way home we drove through to get a box of donuts as gift for some helpers at GH#1 and GH#3's apartment. And, Zoey got a pup cup!

All this before noon.
I will save the rest for tomorrow.
