Update ...

Today we had visitors from Canada in day class. After we went to Demura Sensei's favorite lunch restaurant. Uoko Japanese Cuisine, nearby in Tustin. They close at 2 pm but let us come at 1:30 from class, because, they love Demura Sensei too.

It's a Wednesday tradition, but I usually train Tuesday and Thursday so I miss out. Today I trained Wednesday, and because Marian and Cam Stewart are in town from Canada. We are all so lucky to get to be with Demura Sensei.

 

 

Throwback Thursday ...

For fifty + years the humble building above was our hombu dojo. Dojo (道場 ) a Japanese term, means "place of the way". Hombu dōjō is the central training facility & headquarters of a particular martial arts style. In this case, Shito-Ryu Genbu-Kai Karate-Do.

The City of Santa Ana took the property through 

eminent domain & we were forced to move. An interesting fact, the McDonald's next door never moved and the city discontinued their street widening. You can still buy a Big Mac, and park in their extended parking lot, where our dojo was.
