2GN2S - Odds'n'ends ...

The 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing are in February, but Team USA and Team Canada are already facing off for style points.

Team USA closing ceremony styles.

Ralph Lauren has reigned over US Olympic styles as the official outfitter since 2008, but athleisure favorite Lululemon is a newcomer to the scene. That dynamic is evident in the outfits, as the American label has taken a classic approach while the Canadian brand has focused on a modular set of styles with Transformer-like features -- including a vest that turns into a pillow or scarf.

Team USA will sport red white and blue buffalo plaid puffer jackets, American flag turtlenecks emblematic of Ralph Lauren, and fleece leggings or pants. The big focus is on sustainability, with recycled polyester, recycled down and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) wool.

Meanwhile, Team Canada's all-red and all-cream kits are tech-driven, with textiles that are insulated, sweat-wicking, bacteria-inhibiting, breathable, resistant to water and wind, and light on seams. Hidden pockets abound, and the maple leaf appears as a simple icon as well as an abstracted print. The athletes will wear parkas, down jackets, joggers, trapper caps, bucket hats and zip ups, with plenty of opportunities to modify: the parka can be zipped off into three different lengths, and the down jacket can be worn like a backpack if it gets too hot.

Rome airport reveals plans for flying taxis.

Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) CEO Marco Troncone said the journey in one of the craft, which takes off and lands vertically, will take around 15 minutes, compared with 45 minutes or more by car. The initial cost of a ride will be around 150 euros ($175), a price likely to drop as the service goes mainstream, he said. "The connection will be very swift," he told Reuters at Fiumicino, where Volocopter was showcasing a prototype. "It will be a silent journey and ... the level of emissions will be zero."

The outfits of the American and the Canadian team are really stylish. But I think Eugene looks as good in his classical outfit as the athletes do. You emphasized how smart he looks.
Today's smiles are absolutely funny. I like them.

Hi Jacki,

Thank you for posting the video of Jane Goodall. (Hope I spelled that right.)

I plan to forward it to several of my friends. She is certainly a role model for all of us. I particularly liked her comment about it "being a different time" in the 60s when she was accused of getting a job because her legs were nice looking. I do remember those times, working in a field that was then mainly men. So glad that at least some women on this earth don't have to deal with that.

Also thank you for the laughs, the fashion, and the cool graphic.
