Heroes among us
Hector Guadalupe knows how far fitness can go
in improving self-esteem -- and lives. After years
of hardship, Guadalupe ended up spending 10
years in prison. There, he became obsessed with
fitness and got certified as a personal trainer. When
he got out in 2017, he worked nonstop to establish
himself on the fitness scene, and now runs A
Second U Foundation, which helps formerly
incarcerated men and women get certified as
personal trainers and build careers in the fitness
industry. Read Hector's story here.
Lynda Doughty, a marine biologist who grew
up in coastal Maine, has turned a lifetime of loving marine wildlife
into a force for good. Since 2011, her nonprofit, Marine Mammals of
Maine, has provided response efforts, assistance and medical care for
more than 3,000 marine animals. The group also has federal authorization
to provide temporary care for critically ill and injured seals. Along
with veterinarians, the group's experts and volunteers also collect
critical data about the area's precious marine life. Read Lynda's story here.
Thanks for coming by today.

Such a lovely step by step, Jacki!
What would our world be without the numerous heroes we don't even know most times. We are used to hear only the bad news on the TV and the radio but there are so many brave and good people around us. That raises hope and confidence.
I also loved your today's smiles!
Love those beautiful birds you show every day and all the other daily tid bits. Jane
Thank you, Elenor. I can't tolerate much news anymore, so I try to find positives to help.
Thanks Jane, I am so flattered that you visit the blog when you can!
It means a lot to me. Please take good care.
Nina is just someone you would want to know. Lovely! :-)
