Last May, Demura Sensei asked me if I would attend an
event in LA in November? I said yes. I had no plans.

A Conferment Ceremony of Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr. Fumio Demura. He was to conferred, receiving a special award from the Japanese government for promoting mutual understanding through Karate between Japan and the USA.

The event was held at the beautiful residence of Japan
Consul General Muto and Mrs. Akira Muto in Hancock Park.
There were a few rules and restrictions.
"All street parking is restricted in the neighborhood.
Please obtain a Parking Permit at the entrance of the
Official Residence prior to parking your car."

"Regarding rules about photography: windows and doors
(from the inside and outside), and the exterior of the residence
may not be included in any photography or video recordings."

After the ceremony, we went to the garden for a group photo.
Then to the reception area for refreshments.

A very special day, we students were so happy for you,
Demura Sensei and for the invitation to join you
to celebrate your honor.

*Special thanks to Roy Center & Mei Okumura for photography.
And to George & Carole Suzuki for taking me with them.
Special thanks to George for enduring 2 back seat drivers.
