A.Word.A.Day --> ephemera

 with Anu Garg

ephemera

PRONUNCIATION:
(i-FEM-uhr-uh)

MEANING:
noun:
1. Things that last only a short time.
2. Things of no lasting significance.
3. Items such as tickets, postcards, and letters that are intended to be discarded after use but sometimes become collectibles.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Greek ephemera, plural of ephemeros (short-lived), from epi- (upon) + hemera (day). Earliest documented use: 1398.

We 5 are in our second day renting a 5 bedroom home in Enterprise/Mountain's
Edge. The house is just what we need, a big glass table which we have covered and can just leave our mess out all the time. 104' today.

We are artists in different mediums, but mainly mixed media. That means we have lots of stuff.

But, we do get hungry. Fruit, crackers and cheese for lunch today, but this evening we went to Weera Thai.

Then we came back to our art house and are back at work as I write this silly art blog. Some of you say you like to know the food? Some of us had mixed vegetable and shrimp, green beans with chicken, wide noodles with shrimp, spicy green curry with chicken and a sample plate of gyoza, spring rolls, wanton, fried tofu, crab rangoon. Yes, I forgot to take pictures, but you can imagine, right?

Jacki, it took me quite some time to find out what ephemera are. I wish I had read your excellent explanation earlier. But now I know exactly - thanks.
How wonderful you can make art together with good friends. I wish (again a wish) I could join you. Enjoy!
Today it has been raining all day and it is 57,2 F!
