2GN2S ...

• This is a re-post of a special blog from August 6, 2016, six years ago? We were talking about it recently, so I hunted it up again to share.

I read about the Liquid Shard & had to go! I texted a photo to Grandhunk # 3 and asked  ... if he wanted to go Saturday & have lunch at Olvera Street?

He said yes. Actually, he said "sure, I'll ask Mom!"

A few minutes later, a text from WW saying..."I wanna go and can drive." Win, win & triple win in WW's car! An hour, twenty minutes in traffic & we were there!

I love LA! The buildings, the street art, the energy.

Pershing Square, is a public park in downtown LA., surrounded by tall buildings.

One square block, bounded by 5th, 6th , Hill & Olive Streets.

It's atop a huge underground parking garage, where WW parked.

And there it was, the mesmerizing kinetic sculpture comprised of ...

thousands of silver streamers,

actually holographic Mylar strips,

stretching 15,000 sq ft. across the park ...

rising & falling like some kind of mystical giant, hovering & slithering through the wind, and the murmuring. It was so special that the nearby crowds hushed to hear.

The project, titled Liquid Shard, is the work of Patrick Shearn, president and co-founder of art collective Poetic Kinetics, who teamed up with AA Visiting School Los Angeles design program.

The dazzling installation, which is strung up from the postmodern park’s purple bell tower, will be on view through August 11, 2016

It's hard for pictures to do justice, so if time allows, the 2 minute video  here, has Keith Kurlander exploring the installation. Music by IdIoT-SaVanT. Or, I have posted some shorter videos of the shard on my Instagram account: here.

Then ...

Whenever I am in LA, I finagle a way to Olvera Street.

for my favorite food on the planet ...

And, thank you for stopping by today.
Wishing you a lovely week and weekend.

World Dog Surfing Championships
Pics of top dogs taking to the waves at the World Dog Surfing Championship near Pacifica on the west coast of America!
The dogs competed in categories according to their size. Charlie started five years ago at the age of two. He won second place in the 'large to very large' dog group.

There were also separate categories for dogs who wanted to compete together like Rusty and Faith.
Dogs were judged on multiple factors, including the length of the ride, their technique and their confidence. Skyler looks like a pro!

No matter how big or small, all the dogs - like Carson here - wore life jackets in case the sea became "ruff".

Carson, Rippin Rosie and Charlie couldn't paw-sibly have looked any more relaxed as the three friends caught a wave!

They say that dogs looks like their owners! Derby and his owner Kentucky sported matching blue Mohawks and shiny sunglasses as they took to the water!

Speaking of dogs, Laker my elder granddog is coming today, to stay with me through Sunday. Younger granddog, Zoey will be boarded at Dogtopia where she enjoys her friends and can work off some energy. Pictures are bound to be coming.

A sweet  3+minute video, Baby calf, here.

Awww, thanks so much, John. You have to know that your opinion means so much to me. Honestly, I thought you just checked the art, so I was surprised but glad you got to see the SHARD, as it is a very special memory. I wish that more people could have seen it.

Jacki, it's always a treat to read about your lovely family.
David Attenborough is really a wise man. Everybody should be aware of the responsibility we have for each other. Many family do, such as yours or mine or lots of others.
