November 1st was Aunt Martha's birthday.

I love this picture of my Mom's second oldest sister,
Martha, as a high school graduate.

And, this one of three of the families four teachers.

Martha, Pauline & Fern

Originally ten children grew up on the Beatty farm.
Three of the boys died too early.

Aunt Martha dated Uncle Jerry. I remember he smoked a pipe.

They were married many years.

I lived with my Aunt Martha during the years
Aunt Vonda and Aunt Martha sent me to Ball State University.
Aunt Martha was a master teacher her whole life,
and later retired, she married Uncle Jewell.

As anyone who ever met her knows,
she had such a wonderful sense of humor
besides all her other terrific qualities.
I used to say, "Aunt Martha's in the kitchen",
because, whenever she cooked, she would ...
bang pots and pans making enough noise for ten people!

I teased her about it,  she said it came from living alone,
she said the noise was like she had company!
She would just laugh and shine that great smile of hers.

A smart, strong, kind, righteous woman ...
with a wonderful sense of humor!
A hero to me and loved by all.
Today is her birthday and I miss her so.
But, I often feel her near,
especially when I do art work.

Thank You Aunt Martha!
Happy Birthday!

2GN2S: A feel good story.

Don't give your heart to a ramblin' man
If you haven’t figured out, we love stories about adventurous animals. And we especially love it if those animals have excellent names. So without any further ado, this is Sparkplug, a very naughty 60-year-old, 200-pound African spurred tortoise. Sparkplug broke out of the fence surrounding his Alabama enclosure and made it 30 miles over two days before being discovered and returned home safely. Well, he really only managed to make it across a nearby road before a nice person picked him up and drove him to their country property for safekeeping before the tortoise’s family tracked him down. His owner, Ty Harris, was introspective about the whole affair. "He just went out on the town a little bit," Harris said. "He had to take a journey." A very relatable tortoise. Now Sparkplug is something of a celebrity in the Harris' small town. Kids stop by for photo ops and local growers sometimes toss him a surplus gourd or watermelon to munch on. And the Harrises have definitely reinforced that pesky fence.

Smiles for Sunday ...

I love your use of greens and blues. Not sure if they made the iridescent purple that I see or if that is additional treat. You do have a wealth of family and vintage images. :-)

I really would have wanted to meet your Aunt Martha. She must have been a wonderful woman.
Wishing you a good start into the next week. You have an election, we have a lock down.

Thanks, John. I combined the photo with two collages and in the filtering, the purple came on its own. I love the sailor top and the hat, just a super photo to work with.

Yes, you would have liked her, and she you. She was a special lady. I'm sorry about your lockdown, but it is better than more Covid. our numbers are going up.
