Watch & Optical Repairman Creates Miniature Sculptures From Old Parts

Hisashi Ito is the 2nd generation owner of Megane Tokei Ito, a small shop in Saga prefecture that specializes in the sales and repairs of watches and glasses. An optometrist by trade, Ito spends his time spare time toying with spare parts, up-cycling them into miniature sculptures of animals and insects.

The idea of using leftover parts for a creative outlet came to him in 2015 when Ito was rearranging the look and feel of his shop. Artwork, he thought, might help him differentiate his shop from competitors. So Ito began building sculptures. And so far he’s molded over 70 creations from old watch and clock parts.

Ito posts his creations to an Instagram account. If you’re in Saga prefecture, visit the shop to see the sculptures in person.

Monday, WonderWoman drove us to Lake Havasu.
My first time ever and I really enjoyed the whole day. We were also there to check on their home,
Havasu Hacienda, their family vacation home also               shared with their friends and family.

A two hour drive to Lake Havasu from Henderson, I hoped for rain ... but only in the distance.

A nice drive with time to study some rain clouds.

Downtown Havasu had blue skies & great clouds.
WW recommended Juicy's for lunch ...

One of us had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries

and one us had the Frisco burger with potato salad.

WW showed me around Lake Havasu...

and then we started our way home & more clouds.

We brought home food to Superman

who had worked all day. Then we three watched the first five episodes of Cobra Kai on Netflix. We plan to finish it tomorrow. A fun day!

A fun 3-minute video, Bolero/cellohere.

Strong, bold piece. I thought about it as I looked at your cloud photos. Those photos and your piece relate….black instead of white but still cloud like. :-)
