2GN2S ...

Madam C.J. Walker, America’s first female self-made millionaire, is now a Barbie

Madam. C.J. Walker, the first self-made female millionaire in the U.S., is the next female role model to be honored in Barbie’s line of Inspiring Women dolls.

Walker, the daughter of former slaves, was born as Sarah Breedlove. She achieved enormous success by founding Walker Manufacturing Co., a line of haircare products and cosmetics designed for Black women, and employed thousands of Black women at her company

Later in her life, Walker went on to become a noted activist and philanthropist, supporting orphanages and Black colleges, and advocating for civil rights organizations and women’s rights.

The Madam C.J. Walker doll features a rendition of the entrepreneur wearing a floral printed blouse and turquoise skirt and holding her original product, “Wonderful Hair Grower.”

Walker’s great-great granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles, herself the designer of a hair care collection, worked with Mattel on the collaboration.

“We’re honored to welcome her into this group of trailblazing women and introduce more kids to her journey of becoming one of the nation’s first widely successful female founders.”

The Madam C.J. Walker doll is available for sale for $35 from Mattel. Barbie has also used the Inspiring Women line to highlight Jane Goodall, Maya Angelou, and Rosa Parks.

Hello and Howdy from Henderson, NV ...

I am very lucky to have good friend and artist, Valerie joining me at the Superhero's home. She drove in on Monday with a back seat full of art goodies, and we have art time whenever we feel like it.

We laid out a light weight tarp to protect WW’s countertop, and we are leaving it out since Martha Stewart isn’t here. Yesterday we mainly fooled around with collage and journals. It is nice because no deadlines etc. whoever wants to work on whatever.

The grand-dogs appreciate having two human servants, and Laker says Valerie gives the best massages.

I shot 12 images above from the Superheroes home, where we are enjoying the luxury and comfort.

The last quote touched me too. A good advise that needs to be tried each and every day.
105 F. You have it even hotter today. I guess you stay inside the house most of the time. So good you have such a nice company. It's much more fun to make art together.
