Vietnam's new glass bridge sets Guinness World Record
A glass-bottomed walkway in Vietnam, which opened to much public fanfare in April, has been declared the world's longest bridge of its kind by Guinness World Records.
The
previous record for world's longest glass-bottomed bridge was held by a
structure measuring 1,726 feet in length in Guangdong, China.
Located
in the rural highland region of Son La province in northwestern
Vietnam, the Bach Long bridge connects visitors to a popular mountain
resort and offers impressive panoramic views of lush mountain
rain forest. See the video, here. |
Visitors take photos on the walkway section of the Bach Long glass
bridge in Moc Chau district in Vietnam's Son La province on April 29,
2022. |
Suspended approximately 492 feet above ground and measuring 2,073
feet in length, the glass bridge was a joint collaboration between local
tourism authorities and a French construction company to revive
tourism, badly hit by the global pandemic when the country shut its
borders to international visitors. It is said to be strong enough to support up to 450 people at a time. An SUV was recently driven over it to test its strength.
Update ...
The Nature channel, has a video, The Soul of the Elephant. Wildlife filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert take an
intimate look at one of the world's most intelligent and sensitive
animals.
It brought back vivid memories of visiting Lion Country Safari, (1970-1984) which is gone now, but was nearby, back in 1971.
We had an old
VW bus, and 6 visiting relatives from Indiana. Mom, Aunt Vonda, Aunt
Martha, Uncle Jewell, Aunt Geneva & Uncle Les. We drove through the
park, but parked for an hour and a half to watch the elephants bathing.
None of us tired of watching this rare event. Babies through gigantic adults all enjoying the water and each other. We
enjoyed watching them. A very special memory.
An amazing 4+minute video, air sculptures, here.
