Day 342: A tribute, without a word ...

A daily blog requires a subject.

Sometimes it just happens and I record it.

Sometimes I hunt it out.

Today's came in an e-mail from cousin Katha!

Lawrence Anthony, a South African ...
was an international conservationist, environmentalist,
explorer and best selling author.

A legend, who bravely rescued Wildlife and

rehabilitated elephants all over the globe from human atrocities.

He rescued Baghdad Zoo animals during the 2003 invasion.

Lawrence Anthony died on March 7, 2012

He is remembered and missed by his wife, two sons,

2 grandsons and many elephants.

Two days after his passing, the wild elephants ...

showed up at his home. Led by two large matriarchs.

Separate wild herds, a total of 31 elephants walked over

12 miles to say goodbye to their beloved man/friend.

Making their way solemnly, in a one-by-one queue.

They stayed for two days and 2 nights, not eating.

On the third morning, they left ...

making the long journey back home.

Wow!

In Thursday's last class (Mixed Media Faces) where we did roughly 100 faces in the four week series. I was saying that in drawing
"it's all about really looking." About really noticing the shapes
and angles of the eyes, mouth etc." They mutually nodded.

Then I threw them a curve. I said, on your way home I'd like you to notice the faces of the cars in front of you. They mutually rotated their heads, like puppies when unsure. "All cars have faces in front and back." Their heads turned the opposite angle. Their expressions showed concern, as if I had suddenly gone crazier.
My response, try it!  Have you ever tried it?

A smile for Sunday ...
