2GN2S ...

Every week I am sent the top 30 photos from the previous week. I curate what I share because unfortunately, too many of the photos document how crazy our world has become. I hope you'll enjoy the lighter side.

A young boy looks down at Ukrainian military chaplains during their graduation ceremony in Kyiv on Friday, October 13.

A heron attempts to pluck a water snake from a wetland in Odisa, India, on Friday, October 13.

People use special glasses to view the annular solar eclipse from San Antonio on Saturday, October 14.

You gotta see this

OK, it's time for a guessing game! These two images are among the top 20 chosen for their science and artistry in Nikon’s Small World Photo Microscopy Competition. What do you think they are? I'll put a few lines so you can guess before we talk about them.

...........................................................................................    ...........................................................................................

If you guessed "the venomous fangs of a tarantula" for the left and "a match igniting by friction" on the right, you're correct! (You're also scarily good at identifying microscopic images.) The rest of the photos are just as cool, showing the tiniest biological structures of man and beast, and the interior workings of plants that are just as beautiful as the plants themselves.

An invitation for you.

I have been asked to do an art demo for the Huntington Beach Art League on Wednesday, November 1st. So I am working, preparing for that. It will be at the beautiful, new HB Senior Center on Goldenwest off of the 405 freeway. It starts at 7 PM and done by 8:30. HBAL asked to to post this on my blog and invite anyone that is interested. It's free, you don't have to be a member to attend. It's a great group, I've been a member since 1999. I will be working with about 6+ messed-up canvases and try to finish or at least improve them. To show the recycling of canvases using gesso, collage and acrylic.
