Who knew?

Did you know that great apes tease each other just like humans do? A new study has documented “playful teasing” in orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas. Aside from being very cute to think about, this research could shed light on the evolution of certain human behaviors. “Like joking behavior in humans, ape teasing is provocative, persistent, and includes elements of surprise and play,” the study reads. These little acts included pulling hair, poking and interrupting others' activities. “Because all four great ape species used playful teasing, it is likely that the prerequisites for humor evolved in the human lineage at least 13 million years ago.”

Just another update ...

This daily quest that I decided upon 4,196 days ago ...
means the need to have something to post daily,
and so far, most of the time ... it's okay?
Just like real life ... some days come easy and flow,
some are a strain, and today I was blank for the update?

"SuperMom", Laguna Beach, CA, 1990

This photo, taken 30+ years ago surfaced and brought back memories. We had parked in a City parking lot in Laguna, and when we were walking from the car, I saw this. I pointed it out, but no one seemed to be interested. We were catching a shuttle to the Sawdust Festival.

Much later in the afternoon, we caught a shuttle back to the parking lot. I had been thinking about the discarded "SuperMom" a lot and decided I would take a picture. I thought anyone would surely have a story for it? Do you? I think, for me it is poignant for some reason?

Great blog, Jacki. But the most I like the beginning with your exciting collage and the end with W.E.B. Du Bois' quote. If these things mattered to more people we would have the paradise on earth.
