Amazing photos ... from across the planet.
As you may have heard, the strongest typhoon
in 25 years, since 1993, hit the Japan's mainland.
Typhoon "Jebi"
touched down last Tuesday,
September 4, 2018 causing destruction, power outages
flooding and transportation problems.
Winds lashed buildings and whipped up the sea,
yanking an 89-meter-long
tanker, the Houunmaru,
from its anchorage and ramming it into the bridge
connecting Kansai Airport with the mainland.
Forcing one of the country's largest airports to close
and hundreds of flights to be canceled.
At least 10 people have died.
The ship's upper decks
smashed against Osaka bridge,
dislodging a portion of the road and forcing
authorities
to close it to traffic. Eleven crew members were on board,
but no one was injured in this incident.
Building scaffolding lays collapsed after a powerful typhoon hit Osaka, in western Japan. |
Aerial images of the damage showed rows of cars in Nishinomiya, Hyogo prefecture. |
Strong winds in Kobe left cars piled in a heap. |
More than 8,000 residents had sought shelter in 1,667 evacuation shelters in 24 prefectures. |
There is a significant threat of widespread flooding.
Jebi has dumped nearly 20 inches of rain in some areas.

A few says earlier, August 26, 2018
an enormous cumulonimbus cloud hovered over Tokyo
for hours, bringing with it a spectacular light show,
thunder and lightning which afforded photographer
thunder and lightning which afforded photographer
the opportunity to capture the storm system.
Those familiar with the Ghibli film Laputa will identify
the cloud not as its scientific name, Cumulonimbus,
but as “the Dragon’s Nest.”
Haven't started on dog 2 & 3 yet, mentioned here, but
I have narrowed it down to 8 sketches
from the original 16 in my journal.
