Philosopher Alan Watts on mistakes:

"Regard yourself as a cloud, in the flesh, because you see, clouds never make mistakes. Did you ever see a cloud that was misshapen? Did you ever see a badly designed wave? No, they always do the right thing. But, if you will, treat yourself for a while as a cloud or a wave and realize that you can’t make a mistake whatever you do. Because even if you do something that appears totally disastrous, it will all come out in the wash somehow or another. Then through this capacity you will develop a kind of confidence. And through confidence you will be able to trust your own intuition."

Physical Therapy

I went to P/T today, last time I had Joseph. and today I had Daniel. Joseph was soft spoken and took into account my age. Daniel plays hardball. He times me doing various skills that require balance, since that's why I'm in P/T. I  have five new exercises to do three times a day, two are. harder versions of the last, three are new. By the time I return February 1st, he expects me to be strong enough to no longer need the cane. Yes, he wants me to walk with a cane for this next month! Can you imagine how thrilled I am?

Re-post of  Blog - Day 55, September 16. 2012 (2404 days ago?)

My Dad called me on his 80th birthday.

He'd traveled all over the world, but hadn't been to Asia.

He said he would pay my way if I would go with him,

otherwise he would go alone.

We left on a special three week tour.
Twelve people in our group. We never carried our bags.
They were delivered to our hotel room,  picked up at our
room  to be delivered to our next destination. Talk about luxury.

I had never traveled that way before, and likely won't again.

From Los Angeles we visited Japan, Hong Kong, Macaw,

China, Bali, Yogyakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul.

Today's pictures will be from Hong Kong.

I don't think I have ever seen my Dad happier

than riding the "Junk" in Hong Kong Harbor.

He said "it was just like in the movies."

This was one view from the water.

Three levels of Hong Kong living.

I took so many pictures, and later did digital compositions.

I paid for the side trip to China.

This was from a farm in China, where grain was spread to dry.

On our way home, My Dad thanked me for going with him.

I thanked him too, but said he didn't really give

me a choice since he said he would go alone.

He said, "Oh, I wouldn't have". ;o)

Day 1599: Living large?

"A+", acrylic & junk mail collage

I am working ahead! Wow!
Not something I do that often.
But as your read this I am on my way to Palm Springs!
Or, I'm already there wolfing down the world's best taco at
WonderWoman & Daughter #2 organized
this get-away for my 75th birthday!
And, my good friend Denise is driving from Yuma to join us.
It will be a sleep over at the beautiful Rancho Las Palmas,

including dinner reservations at P. F. Chang's.

Win - win - win - win - win -win - win!
It pays to hang around for 3/4 of a century!

Day 1597: A daily ritual.

"start & maybe finish" , ink & junk mail collage

Some of you asked, and yes sometimes I do get stuck!
1597 days of silly blogs in a row can be daunting.
Usually something happens daily & I go with that.
But I have a short list of emergency/possible blog topics.
Today, I am going to that list, using Dad's date cube.

Besides being a driver for the movie studios,
Dad also sold Mason Shoes from a catalog.
He won this little date cube over 60 years ago.
Not much of a prize, just wood & plastic ...
but it was his daily ritual.
I remember him turning the cubes every day.
It's mine now, and I too turn the cubes daily.
And, almost daily, I think I should clean it up.
60+ years of ritual can add up.
It would probably clean easily ...
& be more presentable ... but I haven't.
Am I crazy?

Day 1239: On a roll!

Christmas card for a friend, acrylic collage

I mentioned yesterday, about my upcoming hot date!
But I need to mention an earlier hot date last Friday, here.
So you might say ...  I am on a roll!

Meet Jordan, Grandhunk #1, 18 year old
6'4-1/2" senior at Orange Lutheran High School.
He invited his Grandma to a Laker Game!

How cool is that?

So with a handsome driver, we were off for LA.

Once in LA, we ate at Smashburger,  by the ice rink ...
then on to the Staples Center!

And I took this shot when we entered the arena ...
before we went down to our seats.

This is the view from our seats in Row 17 ...

an amazing venue, something happening all the time.

A great game, we got to see Kobe play in his final season ...

so a selfie seemed appropriate.

There is tradition, if the Lakers win,
and keep their opponents under 100 points,
spectators get a certificate for ...

The Lakers won ... and we get tacos.

Final score Lakers 113 - Bucks 95.
But, the big winner?
Me, for having such a great Grandhunk.
I told you I had a hot date!
