Some days seem harder then others?
Yesterday, I got notice that a friend's husband had passed.
A wonderful smart man with a great sense of humor,
it's hard to imagine the family without him.
Today I got a call from a friend of forty years+ that he has
cancer and will soon start chemo & taking a Rx that
has a co-pay of $2,650. every 28 days! Who can afford that?
And so, feeling down, I decided to do all the phone jobs
that I have been putting off, because I hate calling.

(As opposed to answering a call, when I can talk forever.)
So, I now have seats for LAX to Paris, and back again.
After just under 2 hours I have my old Delta miles account
number and a new password, thanks to Fatimah & Anita.
There's more, but I'll spare you. The idea is that when
I'm have a rough day, I do something worse.

Kinda like biting down on a sore tooth,
so when you stop, it won't hurt as bad?

2GN2S:

If you have read Judith Viorst’s
to a child in your family, you know she is a special author.

Judith Viorst’s Nearing Ninety and Other Comedies of Late Life
is the latest in her series of decade poetry books, which include
It’s Hard to Be Hip Over Thirty and Other Tragedies of Married Life, Forever Fifty and Other Negotiations, and Unexpectedly Eighty and Other Adaptations. She is also the author of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

“What’s been your favorite time of life?” I was asked a
couple of months ago. My answer astonished my questioner—
and me. For instead of a choice that approximated when
I fell in love, or gave birth to my first baby,
or held my first published book in my hot little hands,
I looked back on my 80-plus years, my nearing 90 years,
and said, “Right now.”

To read more and be inspired, go here for about a 5 minute read.

J. M. O: (just my opinion)

I like low maintenance plants and people.
I have no roses, eventhough they are beautiful.
I have a lot of successful succulents.
By this age, you have figured out what works for you.
What clothes work and what would be a disaster.
What foods to crave and what to avoid.
And, what people bring joy and others, not so much.
One benefit to age.

just my opinion.

When working on a postcard, not a regular postcard, but
a stamp-person postcard, it is more difficult to exaggerate
the scale in such a limited space. Here goes ...

step 1

This is a cut down recycled box, heavy cardboard. I like the color.

step 2

Old newsprint, a glue stick & a brayer ... on my way.

I chose a Sarah Vaughn stamp & her music above,

step 3 -5

... then added black newsprint to start.

step 6 - 10

Wanted to make sure I could fit in shoes, plus another arm.

step 11-15

Cool socks & part of Sarah's ensemble.

step 16 -18

A start on hands & a dress.

step 19 - 21

More hands & more dress detail. Polka dots, yea!

step 22 - 24

I always intended to use this red, just now got to it.

step 25 - 29

Dress, pockets & trim, nearly done.

step 30

Add marker & done? Not yet.

step 31

A touch of white marker. Done.

Now a postcard has two sides, right?
I like to add a small collage to the address side.

step 1 -2

WW thinks this it's silly, a waste of time,

but I do it anyway.
Ready to address & get to the PO ...

Yesterday, before the Costco adventure (here) ...
I saw Dr. Sodl, Kaiser's top sports doctor/surgeon.
I got a cortisone shot in my left shoulder,
he uses ultra sound for prefect placement, and I am a fan.

He had injected the right shoulder October 26th,
but who's counting? TMI?  feel free skip to the "&" below.
Both shoulders are bone-on-bone and I am told
I am a perfect candidate for shoulder replacement.
I may have no choice eventually, but for now, cortisone!
Which made me think of the similarities of my body
and my aging condo. Though only 21 years old ...
I have decided condos age in dog years!
This tiny place has so many things that don't work.
Like my body, I do what I can to work around them.

I got an early call from Grandhunk #1 who lives 1-1/2 miles away.
WW had called him to get my decorations down in the garage.
She told him to hurry or I'd get up on a ladder & do it. She's right.
I planned to move my car to set up the ladder ... no need.
At 6'5-1/2" he reached up & brought it down. ♥
I unloaded my goodies & he reached up & put away the empty.
Soon decorations will be in place, just a few special treasures.
Well that was the plan, but WonderWoman called and asked ...

if I wanted to go with her to eat and find a pair of jeans?

Is the Pope Catholic?

We went to "Snooze AM Eatery" a new place
highly recommended by Grandhund #2 & Grandcutie!

 3032 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA 92782  •  Daily 6:30am - 2:30pm  •  714.415.6269
*see actual menu here.

WonderWoman had the Breakfast Pot Pie
Snooze’s homemade rosemary sausage gravy smothers a flaky puff pastry, topped with an egg your style (we’d say sunny side up!). You’ve reached breakfast bliss, complete with hash browns.
I had the OMG! French Toast
Bread & Cie brioche stuffed with mascarpone then griddled and topped with
vanilla crème, salted caramel, fresh strawberries and toasted coconut. O. M. G.

* I did take pictures of shopping at Nordstrom Rack,
but will save that for a future blog.
Already TMI!
