2GN2S

Polish photographer Artur Stankiewicz took this photograph of a hippo with water plants decorating his head, named "I'm too sexy for my love," at Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe.

Okay, 2GN2S, stands for too good not to share, and today's 2GN2S is surely that!. This is the shortlist (6) for this year's Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, one of the very best photography competitions, hands down. And, German photographer Arvind Mohandas captured the likeness of this philosophical chimp in Uganda. Other entries, include a smiling elephant seal, a stuck squirrel, and a rather alarmed owl. The awards support a different sustainable conservation organization each year, and the Whitley Fund for Nature has been selected for 2024. This year's shortlist of 40 images was selected from about 9,000 entries.

Autumn Leaves Crackle and Writhe Like a Flame.

Short Film by Animator William Crook

In “Stickmatch,” a new short film, a matchstick-like twig lands onto the screen, and with one long strike, it spontaneously ignites flames. These sparks don’t manifest in their usual form, though. The flames are replaced with leaves from various trees that are colored all the hues of autumn, from bright green to amber yellow. See the full 20 second video, here.
