Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) is considered one of the most prominent artists in modern art history. She was born on November 15, 1887, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA. She is known for her artwork that combines abstraction with naturalistic elements.
O'Keeffe received her education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied painting and design, with good friend Alice Nichols. She began her career with an innovative artistic style that garnered attention in the art world.
She gained fame for her large-scale paintings of flowers, rendered in abstract detail. In the 1920s, she moved to New Mexico, where she was influenced by the desert landscapes, which became a major theme.
Her famous works include "Black Iris III," "Red Canna," and "Sky Above the Clouds." Her paintings are noted for their bold colors and intricate details that highlight the beauty of nature.
O'Keeffe married artist Alfred Stieglitz, who had a significant impact on her career. She spent her later years in New Mexico, continuing to create art until her death on March 6, 1986.

Really liked your artwork this morning, Jacki. The small snippet about the NFL player gives me hope in humanity. Got back home late Saturday. (Obviously still suffering from jet lag.) But I'm going to use this excuse into December. :)
So glad o have you ham safe. Yes, jet lag is real and lasts as long as you want the excuse. I have just lag.
Thanks for so much information about Georgia O'Keeffe. She was already such an amazing woman in a time when that wasn't easy, at least in Europe. My grandmother was born in the same year, but her life was very different.
Thank you Elenor. Dr. Alice Nicols, as mentioned was the head of the art department and went to school with Georgia OKeefe.
