Our last full day in Santa Fe, and we filled it!

We were on Canyon Road before the galleries opened,
so Irene drove us up into the hills where we saw so many

beautiful walls, gates and homes on our prettiest day yet.

Irene & I with Mao at the Turner Carroll Gallery
on Canyon Road. Over 75 fine art galleries, studios,  this area
also has Santa Fe’s finest jewelry and dining establishments.
We ate lunch at El Farol ...

and we both agreed our sandwich, the TORTA de CUBANO

It had been highly recommended by many, and did not disappoint.

A highlight of our day
was meeting Ernesto Mayans
at his gallery on his 35th gallery anniversary. A kind, caring and knowledgeable man.
He took a lot of time with us
and introduced us to the artist,
let us see and sketchbooks
and drawing, which were
ready to go to the Smithsonian.
Ernesto has completed a book on the artist, and will be published soon.

After visiting I am not sure how many galleries and shops,
we were mutually on gallery & sculpture overload.
So we headed outside of the town and discovered another side.
We drove out Bishop's Lodge Road and stopped at
Shidoni Gallery, and Sculpture Gardens

Several acres of sculptures and scattered benches for rest.
You'll have to go and pick your favorites, this is mine.

A steel clothesline, titled Wash Day. $26,000.
The clothes, recycled steel doors & car parts bolted!

Cool?
On the way back to our hotel, Irene saw this real sign.
We actually went around the block to get a photo.

We returned to our rooms to rest a bit, before...
eating yet again! This time at Mucho Gusto.
A tucked-away Mexican spot that offers classic fare
from taquitos to fajitas, in humble, homey digs.

I ordered the Chicken Taquitos: Five fried taquitos
made with their famous creamed chicken, wrapped
in blue corn tortillas. Served with arbol chile salsa
and guacamole. And no, I couldn't finish it all.

Irene ordered "The Bomb", their most popular specialty.
A chicken breast stuffed with Jack cheese, poblano chiles,
almonds, sun dried tomatoes, topped with a mushroom
Chipotle chile cream sauce. Served with rice,
whole black beans and sour cream.

Both were amazing and I felt like I would never eat again?
My Grandma used to say,
"You feel like you'll never eat again, but you will."
Thanks for coming along on our trip!
Happy Thursday.
