Today, I went to school with the 9th thru 12th graders on PBS-TV.
I had it on in the background. I worked, listening, turning at times.
Learning about the beavers on Snake River,
and the wolves and prairie dogs at Yellowstone.
I could turn off the tv and be more productive, or
I could just turn around and watch tv? Or ...

Day 2069: What did you do today?

sample sun: acrylics, molding paste, glazes & ink

What did you do today?
For me, after Palm Sunday at church with SM, WW,

GH#2, GH#3, GC (Grandcutie, GH#2's girlfriend) then lunch.
GH#1 was working brunch shift at Social Costa Mesa.

&

I came home to watch ...

the elite eight turn into the final four.
There was an unscheduled nap in there somewhere.

&

While sorting, I found one of my older sample boards.
I had put a blob of molding paste in the upper right corner?

sample board: acrylics, molding paste, glazes

I was ready to toss it, but it was on heavy bristol board,
and there was something about it that I liked,
so I started scribbling ...

sample sun: acrylics, molding paste, glazes & ink

Saved from the landfill. Cover art for today,
what do you think?

Do you binge watch? Most friends do. I don't.
Until I recently discovered that the daily sumo matches ...

are shown on youtube, all 15 days of the basho (tournament).
Both in Japanese and in English by NHK, here.
There are six basho each year, the current basho in Osaka.
The next basho, will be in Tokyo, May 15 - 27, 2018.

The champion, Yokozuna Kakuryu with a 12-2 win record.

Kakuryu's proud daughter.

Years ago I watched Sumo basho's on channel 38, but it ended.
Then I subscribed to Sumo World magazine.
Back in March of 2013 I did a blog titled, I love sumo! (here)

And I am a fan.
I love everything about Sumo.
The traditions still honored.
The cleansing of the ring.
The skill and dedication.
The idea of a 15 consecutive day
basho (tournament) and the
champion being the sumo player
with the most wins after
  15 days of competition.
And, the fact that you can't tell
by the sumo player's demeanor,
who is the winner or the defeated.
No boasting. Manners.

I love Sumo.

Day 976: Sometimes I roll my eyes out loud ...

"28". multiple paper collages, digitized

Sometimes I roll my eyes, out loud!
Not often, and not in public.
But sometimes at myself.
Confession is good for the soul.

This is me, last night. Grandma TLC on duty.
It is a bit flattering, but then I made it, so artistic license.
WonderrWoman and family of superheroes have
big screen tv's and three remotes, with Direct TV, Netflix ,
a jillion channels etc. and it all works fine for them.

 &

After watching Duke win in BB, I wanted to see Shark Tank.
It gave me the option of watching it (a program in progress)
from the beginning. Cool.
Usually I would ask one of the Grand-hunks to help,
but I have, after all, college degrees ...
I should be able to do this, right?
And after 5 minutes, I did.
When GH#3 came down, I told him of my progress.
He smiled.

A smile for Sunday ...

Day 784: Notes and scribbles ...

"Teddy", photo digital collage

For the past three evenings, and for the next two upcoming ...
I am on my couch, journal and pen in hand, mesmerized ...
by the PBS & Ken Burns tv series on the Roosevelt's!

A long time fan of Eleanor, I find that
I knew little of Teddy and FDR.
And so I share with you, my six hours (so far)
of notes and quick sketches.

There have been so many wonderful images,
that I am not quick enough to capture properly.

I tried to jot down some of the great quotes.
Some I paraphrased, as I wasn't sure of my accuracy.

I teach a little journaling class, where I say include
whatever is going on in your life at the time, and ...
that it doesn't have to pretty. Same for this blog.

Bravo Ken Burns.

And, I am one of many, exposing my table top today
as part of Seth Apter's Studio reveal here,
you can see how real artists work.
A great variety, and definitely worth checking out.

I work a lot with junk mail ...

... if it were neat, I wouldn't be working?
