Photography Exhibition of ‘Chromotherapia’

Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, “Toiiletpaper.”

In the world of photography, the color image has long held an inferior reputation to black-and-white, which connoisseurs historically deemed to be more dignified. Today, vibrant images are embraced in a wide range of fields, from fine art and fashion to advertising and journalism.

Championing the potential of the medium, artist Maurizio Cattelan and French Academy in Rome—Villa Medici director Sam Stourdzé curated Chromotherapia: The Feel-Good Color Photography.

Martin Parr, “Common Sense.”

Color therapy, though deemed a pseudoscience, has its roots in color theory, which focuses on interactions between hues and how they affect our moods and emotions.

Self Image
Looking at the Cattle Egret below I wondered if she knows how pretty she is? Then it reminded me of
a video I posted,  but I had forgotten, (here).I found it cute, then sweet, then touching. The lady who originally posted the video, labeled it "her love bird didn't like its short tail."

It seems most of us think we are either too much or not enough of various things. Maybe a waste of time, but our insecurities help us seek out helpers to make up for our supposed lack. There was a time many years ago when I added eyelashes. Also, fake acrylic nails. One time, a hairpiece. I guess I am not so different than that bird.

How much I'd like to travel to Rome again. I spent there the three best months of my life as a young adult more than 50 years ago. Of course I also had visited Villa Julia. Jacki, you bring back so wonderful memories to me. Thank you.
Wishing you a good Sunday.
