2GN2S:

Strawberries are in season!
Melissa keeps posting pics from the Donut Man on FB.

Evidently located about 24 miles north of me, in Glendora.

I am hungry, and eating a salad, as I write this. ;op

Anybody taking bets on when I'll breakdown, and go to Glendora?

I am still working on postcards. Almost done, but ...
tonight I drew these 2 postcards.

Originally, I thought I would paint or collage them?
But now I kinda like them as is?
Would you be disappointed to get these simple drawings?
Let me know? I love feedback!

Day 1453: Not knocking their talent, but ...

"Things Happen", collage, acrylic & digital

I follow a few blogs, maybe eight total.
Most post sporadically, so it's a daily surprise.
I love it when they post. It's a gift.
Some because of their art, some their humor,
photography, knowledge or creativity.
I learn & enjoy, usually in a minute or less.
They inspire me. And it's free! Win - win!

One is Darlene Campbell, here.
Our styles are different, but I am drawn to her energy.
I read, enjoy & leave, usually without commenting.
Then I remembered how much a comment means to me ...
so yesterday I left this comment  ...
( and discovered today's blog title in the process).

Title, "No Bra, No Teeth, No Service"

"I apologize Darlene, I don't stop often to comment,
even though I follow your every blog.
I love your work because it comes organically from you.
I love artwork where you can tell the artist has fun creating.
(Not knocking their talent,
but I don't think the Old Masters had much fun?)
Your work reminds me of carbonation ...
delightful bubbles rising involuntarily from the bottom.
TMI? ♥"

Thanks Darlene.
And, thank you for stopping by.

Day 1430: Revisiting the Redhead!

"Guy", collage, photo & digital

Recently artist Jan asked me ...
"does it stress you out to have an unfinished page in your journal? Just curious."
I responded, "
Thanks Jan, I love hearing from you.
Evidently not, as I have a lot of unfinished journal pages!
Actually I think of it as fun, and get back to some, others still wait.
This one seems a challenge as I don't like the page itself.
I have seven others of the same approach yet to play with.

Dealing with a quirky back ache, I have had a sloth day today ...
reading, naps and watching the NBA finals ...
but I have been thinking about that redhead!
If you saw the blog (here) the redhead looked like this ...

and I knew I didn't like the spread, though I liked her okay.
Some of you were so kind and offered suggestions
& even encouragement. I love you guys!
So I returned to it and started working on the background,

I didn't count the steps, but this is a lot of pieces
of very old 1977 newspaper, my favorite because
it is so old and porous that it crumbles and fits easily.

Now covering most of what I didn't like,
I already like it better than before ...
but still not sure what will come next?
I might work with graphite & give her a scene?
Or, not. Stumped again for now. Suggestions?

The nice thing about collage ...
it's never done till you stop.
Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Day 1338: Where the heck did March go?

"keep moving",  photo, junk mail collage, ink & digital

It's nearing the end of the month, already!
So I need to get the traveling journal off to the next artist.
Four artists have already completed artwork here,
7 artist will add their spreads in the coming 7 months.

I selected my two blanks pages above and started ...

Applying acrylics for the background with a rough idea in mind.

Next adding random papers and junk mail,
letting the acrylic show through and blend.

I finished it with a few subtle lines of  StazOn ink pad ...
applied with the edge of a credit card, to avoid a drawn look.
It may need more, but I am hopefully stopping in time.
(* Remind me to tell you the Dr. Nichols story)
What do you think? Does it need more, less?
My significant other, my "MAC Pro" never says?
So, I'd love your feedback, it's quiet here!
