Day 1556: End of this Round Robin exchange.

Just finished my last entry in the Round-Robin journal exchange.

I will mail it soon to Cherrill, it's actual owner, and ...

mine should be coming to me after a year.

Staring with the 11 x 8.5" heavy watercolor paper spread.

Some of the earlier spreads seeped through the spine, so ...

I started by sealing the spine, thinking I might do a face?

I love working with the paper shapes, 

but seems like its going to go sideways?

I really liked this one, and would have stopped here ...

but it's not for me & I think Cherrill might like more.

Junk mail, watercolor and china marker ...

just playing with layers of watercolor & paper.

Layered a light area as a base for the hair.

She is starting to show where to put stuff.

I like her. I hope Cherrill will. Do you?

Day 1531: Round Robin Routine!

Just barely under the round-robin deadline ...

starting with a dictionary page, tissue, magazine ...

adding an old photo & torn junk mail.

Not sure of where this is going?

But I play until it happens.

It doesn't always work out, but at least I played.

Day 1505: NYC on my mind?

As mentioned in earlier posts, 

I am in a Round Robin journal exchange.

I received artist/friend John Arbuckle's 

beautiful handmade journal ...

step 1 empty page

to select and open a 8.5 x 11" spread to work on ...

and mail on to the next artist by September 5th!

I started with two colors of acrylic & a scrap of junk mail.

This is my limbo stage. Not sure but playing.

I was in Beatriz's beautiful studio on a playdate and ,,,

it was right about here I started to know where I was going?

Inspiration from a great meal, Beatriz, Dave & Jack helped!

More playing! Did I mention that I love junk mail?

The polka dot wrapping papers seemed inappropriate for a sky ...

but that made it even more appealing.

I was really tempted to go in with an ink marker 

and define lines & edges, but I didn't.

I really love the unevenness that still suggest straight lines.

I leave for NYC soon & maybe it's on my mind?

Day 1435: Just barely making it under the wire!

This round robin journal is due to be mailed by the 30th.

Being one of those who waits till the last possible moment,

I am finishing it today.

8.5 x 11" heavy watercolor paper ...

No plans, but decided to try the new watercolors ...

 

I have friends who are master water-colorists,

but it definitely doesn't rub off on me!

And so, when I get in trouble, I think ... collage!

Almost done. Not quite.

China marker & ink as the last step.

Sometimes I go too far, don't know when to quit.
