Today was "C" day.
A 9 am appointment with Dr. Sodl in Anaheim.
Both shoulders have arthritis and both are bone on bone,
the ultimate diagnosis is replacement.
Cortisone is my helper.
Dr. Sodl uses an ultrasound to locate the best placement
for the cortisone shot, it eases the pain but doesn't cure the situation.

Surgery was a possibility for this fall.
But the opportunity to go to France for two weeks or be
restricted for six months, had even Dr. Sodl saying,
"Go to France!"
And, I will.

Tuesday night WW invited me to go with her to watch
Garret & UCLA play at UCI in men's baseball.
I said yes in a nano second.

UCI is nearby, just 11 miles from my home.
But we were going mainly to see our good friend ....

Costa Mesa and Irvine in the distance, I live near the hills.

The game was sold out, so we stood for the game, but a great view.

The game started at 6 pm, a fun way to spend an evening.

When people left early, it freed up space for strecthing.

Kacie, WW, Lindsay, Grandma, Grandhunk#2
Garret had many fans in attendance.

Our guy, Garret #5 for UCLA, on deck.

Final score: UCLA- 7, UCI- 0

Red arrow points to where we are parked, UCI 4th floor.

 Our car is the farthest.

A great evening.
Very good, best friends.

*A blog revisit: Day 83: October 14, 2012 ... 2,373 days ago

Seems quite a while ago, but I used to be four.

I did the above composition years ago,

as part of my digital timeline.

This was taped on the back of a 8x10". I think it must have

been in the Hollywood tradition of extolling many talents,

and worry about delivering them later?

I do remember some tap and ballet.

Oh, and I sat on a pony that went in a circle.

My Dad said this was a cover for a ladies magazine.

I never saw a copy. And, this is Hollywood folks.

In 2002,  at UCI, I was assigned a digital project ...

to combine photos and write a storyline.

Because I was also developing my digital timeline,

I used this photo of me at four.

This is what I came up with.

Some relatives have said it is sad, I didn't mean for it be be.

It's just what flowed from somewhere deep inside.

She was four. Not a beauty, yet not all the way plain.

Tiny, not tall. Brown hair, and browner eyes.

Probably not unlike any four year old, except for her quiet intensity. A seriousness uncommon to those so young.

A single child, loved by handsome parents. But they had their own problems, both individually and together which left the girl with lots of alone time. Time for thoughts and dreams. Maybe, in some ways, she was older than either of her parents, but she seemed to accept that as a given.

She could sit alone in her parents closet occupied by her thoughts,
oblivious to the shouting coming from the kitchen. She wasn’t there as punishment, rather by choice. She had visions of places far away, exotic people and locals where she had been or would be ...

Have you heard about our Anteaters?

Surely you've heard of March Madness?

Did you miss the exciting game where the underdogs won?

The Anteaters men's basketball team represents the
University of California, Irvine, and is in the news.
Big time.

The 2019 NCAA Tournament has its biggest upset, by seed,
so far. No. 13 UC Irvine knocked out No. 4 Kansas State 70-64
in San Jose on Friday afternoon, making for an exciting game.

The team currently competes in the Big West Conference,
NCAA Division I.  UC Irvine basketball is in its ninth year
under current head coach Russell Turner.

The underdogs, they won their 19th straight game Friday,
70 - 64 over Kansas State in the first round.

Proud Dads and fans.

Sunday the highly ranked Oregon Ducks and UCI Anteaters
will meet, playing at 6:40 p.m PT. I'll be watching.

After rain again yesterday, the sky was  a stunning blue,
the palm trees were washed and sparkling and
I couldn't resist this photo.

Wishing you a lovely weekend doing whatever you love most.
Thank you for stopping by this silly blog where you never know what you will find. Maybe you, like me, like surprises?
Please come back again when time allows.

A smile for Saturday ...
