Last week it was Water Works, here, and this weeks
gallery visit was the beautiful Brea Gallery and PaperWorks.

Artists were invited to display their skills at folding,
tearing, cutting, and crafting paper, filling the walls
with inspiring, often surprising works.
Valerie and I both love paper, and so this visit was a must.

by Camille Taylor

Works, like Ms. Taylor's, are not done justice by my photography.
I tried to get close-ups to show detail to little avail.

There are inter-active projects, two in origami & collage,
within the exhibit allowing visitors to make their own art.

1. Origami: make an animal and add to the tree.

2. Collage Station: make one & hang it up.

3. A letter of apology ...

Valerie & I both did # 2 & 3, we ran out of time for #1.
A fun afternoon, worth a trip if you're near?

Those of you who visit this silly blog often, might know
I love classical, rock and roll & a wide variety of music styles.
But, there is a special love of the cello.

Artist/friend Mary McKay, sent me this link of the
Kannek-Mason family of seven gifted sibling musicians,
featured in a lovely 9 minute video, here.
If you watched the wedding Saturday you saw prodigy, Shaku.

The dubious joys of early rising?
Well I tried it out Sunday morning.
Getting up at 4:15 am to drive to SM & WW's house.

15 miles and not a single car on the road, until
I reached the 91 freeway & out of the twilight zone.

Superman & WonderWoman had a flight from LAX to NYC.

We four made the 5:30 am drive with minimal traffic.
Grandhunk #3 was to drive their car home, and
I volunteered to tag along as co-pilot.
Some of the best conversations happen in a long drive.
So until we drive in next Sunday for pick-up ...

it's just GH#3, grand-dog Laker and I & we'll be just fine.

TMI?

The canvas "girl lost 2" above is a work in progress.
I played with the photo of the original canvas seen here,
& added layers digitally. The possibilities are endless.
But, I plan to add real collage & acrylic to the original.
And then I may play again digitally, you never know?
Luckily this girl is very patient with me, since she is "lost"!

Am off today, Monday to Rancho Palos Verdes...

a really beautiful area in SoCal ...

to spend the night & be in town for an early Tuesday demo at

Palos Verde Art Center Palateers.

A large nonprofit community visual arts school and gallery,
inspiring individuals to create, appreciate and celebrate art.
Founded in 1931, PVAC’s exhibition, education and outreach programs make visual arts available, accessible and affordable.

I will be showing my approach to mixed media,
and hoping that these fine artists might have fun with it.
Cross your appendages for me?
