It's a tradition, thank goodness.
Our daughter's spoil us with a weekend getaway.
The destination again this year is Palm Springs.
Our 2018 trip is here, & here, and 2017 here.

Cheryl & Erin (aka WW), 1979

These two have been best friends since age 5 & 6. Non-stop.
The Moms too. And now that our girls are grown up,
they spoil us with this wonderful tradition.

2019 started Friday morning with our drive to Palm Springs.
The 91 had a stand still for awhile, but nothing
could stop our enthusiastic anticipation.

We arrive in town in time to eat lunch at Las Casuelas,
another tradition.

Next, some shopping on Palm Drive and

Time to check into our hotel, Indian Wells Resort Hotel.
This Mom was still weary from the earlier trip. So, Carole, Cheryl & Erin changed and went to the hotel pool for the afternoon,
This Mom took a nap.

Next on the agenda, a reservation for dinner at Cliff House.

A gorgeous mountaintop destination featuring prime rib &
fresh fish with impressive views & an outdoor patio.

The food and service was great!
We sat in the patio area and had a great time.

Carole and Erin ordered the Lemon Chicken Linguine Pasta with
confit chicken, baby artichokes, spinach, walnuts,  parmesan cheese

Cheryl ordered the Pan Roasted Chilean Sea bass with
honey-soy glaze, sticky rice, Asian slaw green curry-coconut sauce.

I ordered the Thai Spice Scallops with key lime
coconut butter | tropical fruit salsa & cashew black rice

Erin was kind enough to share a bit of her delicious linguine, and
I promptly dropped my first bite on my phone. Not a tradition.

Dessert, Cliff House Ice Cream Pie, was decadent but welcome.

Downstairs with a doggie box.

One more photo for the road.

A lovely evening and a great start to our get-away.
Thanks for joining us. Have a lovely day.

A smile for Saturday ...

Thursday we woke early, finished packing and checked out of ...

a really charming home away, while we were in Santa Fe.

We left Santa Fe for Albuquerque Airport.
After returning the rental car, we were ready to wait.
This airport is western themed and has comforting
beige and rust color scheme.
A contrast from industrial look of LAX.

During our wait to board, we did some people watching.
I thought you might enjoy seeing my brunch?
A $4 coke and banana bread = $8.50.

A full American Eagle flight with 78 passengers

took off for the 1 hour 35 minute flight to LAX.
Once at Irene's home, I set off for Tustin at 4:03 pm,
knowing I would deal with rush hour and freeway traffic.
The 55 miles took two hours.
Palos Verde Road, Crenshaw Boulevard to 405, to 22 to 55.
Small but welcoming, Home Sweet Home!
Unpack, laundry and repeat packing for tomorrow's
Mother-Daughter weekend trip to Palm Springs.

I have over 100 unused Santa Fe photos yet to share.
adding just  a few here.

Irene @ Casa Nova

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll join me from Palm Springs?

Superman, WonderWoman, family and friends
have been "baking" in Palm Springs this week.
The Grandhunks & Grand-dog & Grand-puppy
came home Thursday, as the hunks all have to work.
The Superheroes will return Saturday.
Until then, it's Grandma, Laker & Zo.

and FB just sent me a message for tomorrow ...

We'll try.

Puppy Update:

Zo is now 13 weeks and 18 pounds.

Zo has doubled in size since the superheroes
brought her home five weeks ago.

I think she was glad to be home from Palm Springs
and the extreme heat, though WW said she liked the pool.

One of my favorite times is a quiet time before noon,
when we three share the outside couch.
We may outgrown this soon?

Zo goes at 100 mph so these rare cuddles are priceless.

And you know you're tired when you get part way
into bed and say ... near enough!
