I love Kirsty Elson, a driftwood artist living in Cornwall, UK.
Over the last twenty years, She has been scouring the local beaches for washed up ‘treasure’ to work with. For a long time, she focused on making cottages, boats, lighthouses and coastal scenes. Recently her work has changed direction and she's having fun making quirky animals and birds. I think her work might make you smile!

I wanted to talk about the ability to see particular potential in shapes. I think we all have the ability, some have just practiced more and honed that ability. Many artists have the ability and some, like Kirsty have developed it to a self supporting skill.
I have been her fan for over a year. In May 2024 I mentioned her blog Day 4292, and again in blog Day 4580, March 2025. Yesterday I saw one of her latest ,,,

Beau Noir, a wedding makeup artist, didn’t have her father present to walk her down the aisle, her mother had also passed away, until Gill Pulliam, the landlord of the building where she works, gently stepped in. Over the years, Beau had confided in Gill about her family losses, and when she became engaged, Gill asked her and her husband if he could have the honor of walking her down the aisle. In her words, she experienced “something I’ve never felt before in a fatherly way” that day, and she says she’ll be forever grateful for his thoughtfulness and kindness. Beau and Gill’s bond traces back to 2019, Gill owned the building where the now-couple met and started working together. Gill had recently lost his wife, and their friendship deepened through shared experiences of grief. Their connection ultimately led to Gill playing a supportive, father‑figure role at her wedding. The story went viral, resonating with many who praised the compassion and selflessness of stepping into a void when family cannot.
