Do You Know Norman Rockwell?

Norman Percevel Rockwell (1894 – 1978) was an American painter and illustrator. His works have a broad popular appeal in the United States for their reflection of the country's culture. Rockwell is most famous for the cover illustrations of everyday life he created for The Saturday Evening Post magazine over nearly five decades. As I was responding to some comments on "Shiner", I commented that probably many had never seen a Norman Rockwell print. I looked on eBay and found so many for sale from $8 - $3900! I remember as a child, looking at the covers of the weekly Saturday Evening Post, they were that relatable to any age. I picked out a few of my favorites.

Funny title, but it came from the ad. Green Giant bought the rights and used it in a full page ad. My Aunt Vonda had this print framed in her Indiana kitchen, without the ad.

Several good friends and karate-ka, like Jim Eyre and Kevin Graves, liked the above art?  And Jim asked how old I was in the above art? I replied 9. In truth, I never hd a black eye until I was thirty. That's the year I started learning karate and came home from class one day with a beauty. I was so proud of that eye. It sounds stupid, but it was the truth. In fact I wished I could be in a tournament. I just thought it would look "neat" to already have a "shiner"?
