Babies who have a peanut allergy are now being offered potentially life-changing treatment at hospitals across Australia in a world-first program aimed at reducing the dangers of the allergy. The overall aim is to transform the approach from one of strict avoidance of peanuts to safely building up a tolerance — and hopefully achieving remission. Peanut allergies aren't just a huge inconvenience for sufferers — they can be downright deadly. Food allergies are also a growing public health concern in the United States, where peanut allergies are estimated to affect about 2% of children, or nearly 1.5 million people younger than 18. If such a process catches on, it could save families around the world a lot of worry and grief. |
I've been watching a lot of Olympic sports. Have you? Like my computer, it gobbles up my time and I achieve very little. But today, good friends, Michelle and Kevin Suzuki called as they were in the neighborhood and we got together for the day, and took this picture,
after we returned from lunch at Ivy's Bridge to Better Health, a historic health foods store and cafe, famous for the salads, sandwiches.

etc. My favorite is their Chicken Walnut Salad, which Michelle and Kevin liked too. I brought home some of my salad and enjoyed it again for dinner. Thank you again Michelle and Kevin for a lovely day.
