Saturday, Brandon had scheduled to come to my house and help me with my computer cord jungle. I had a big printer, scanner, and speakers from 2006 (which is antique in tech stuff) and need to unplug and re-organize. My office/studio is 12x12x16' and is
filled with 15x15' of mainly art stuff. The high ceiling helps it look a little better. Brandon hooked up my big cinema display monitor to my laptop. So great to have two screens for detail work.

Brandon's wife Courtney, and daughters Noelle (8) and Nova (6) came along.
The girls went out to the yard and started cleaning up!

Then Craig and Jean, Brandon's parents came
and started working in the yard.
Craig and granddaughter, Nova trimmed plants.

I had given Nova blue gloves that were too big, she said that's okay.

Looking into my office from the yard, you'll notice
Nova visited both groups. She's constant movement.

Around 5 pm, we packed up and went to Rock and Brew, Tustin
a new restaurant that people have been raving about.
They were right, it is good.

I am still overcome with gratitude to these families spoiling me so.
Spending the day with some of my very favorite people
on the planet, and getting so much needed help.
Thank you Nomura's, I love you all.

Day 1483: 3 artists saved the day!

"loops", gesso brush stroke

I just realized today that ...
I've been doing this blog for over 4 years,
having started a daily post in July, 2012.
So, I guess it's understandable that some days ...
I wonder what will show up?
Thank goodness for friend/artists Beatriz, Libby & Connie!
I opened my mailbox today and ... WOW!!!

Day 1398: Doesn't look like anything would pass code?

"old days", collage, photo & digital

I am actually ahead of schedule, for a change!
Another round-robin journal spread,
on 8-1/2 x 11" heavy watercolor paper to
finish and mail on by the end of the month.
And so, to share, another step-by-step.

step1

I started with acrylics spread on a celadon base.

step 2

Uncertain, I started adding black gesso in an irregular grid.

step 3

I started to see buildings so just went with it.

step 4

I wanted to add collage, here and there.
I thought it was done, but ...
when I looked at it on screen ... not quite.

step 5

The addition is subtle, but I think necessary.
Doesn't look like anything would pass code?
But, I like the colors.

Day 1263: Sometimes it works, and sometimes not.

Joannie, junk mail collage & digital

I have two monthly commitments
involving sending art work by mail.
One is mail art & goodies to a different artist each month.
The second is an eleven month round robin journal exchange.
Every month working in a new artist's journal.
So, I made my 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (folded) journal below ...

journal cover, opened

and we are all to fill one spread within the journal.

phase 1 ...

I liked the start with acrylic and tissue paper.

phase 2 ...

Then added junk mail & sewing patterns etc. So - so.

phase 3 ...

Next adding blueprint & napkins, too messy.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes not.

phase 4 ...

Still not satisfied with it, I tried ink.

I added a face digitally for this post.
The actual journal is still in progress. ;op
