Day 1020: Bye bye Flat Stanley!

acrylic, paper & china marker collage postcard (front)

acrylic, paper & china marker collage postcard (back)

Earlier in May, a visitor from Florida came in the mail!
A flat one actually, mentioned in an earlier blog here.
Cousin Nancy's daughter, Denise's son,
Peyton sent me
by snail mail.
Part of a school project, I tucked
Peyton into "Flat Stanley's" pocket so he could come along too.
Stanley came with a  introduction letter ...

I took him with me to the hombu dojo where he met ...
famous Demura Sensei and young Alexander.

Next, I started a souvenir book for Stanley to take to Peyton ...

And now Stanley is the mail to Peyton!
Have a safe trip!

Day 1014: A visit from Peyton & Stanley ...

(old drawing + collage = postcard)

A visitor from Florida came in the mail! A flat one actually.
Cousin Nancy's daughter, Denise's son,
Peyton sent me
"Flat Stanley" ...
by snail mail.
Easy since
he folds for mailing.
Part of a school project,
I am to show him
California and
my area & friends.
I added Peyton into "Flat Stanley's" pocket so he could go along too.

So far, they've seen Angel Stadium, the Getty, San Diego Zoo,
San Juan Capistrano, Paso Robles, Newport Beach,
Grandma's Park, Cal State Fullerton, the Tall Ships,
Korean Friendship Bell & traffic lights on Jamboree.

And today ...
 a movie star ,
Demura Sensei
and a handsome
young man,
Alexander.
Where would you go if you could be folded into an envelope and mailed anywhere? ANYWHERE?

More trips ahead, but that's all for today.
Stay tuned?

Day 1013: Coulda, Shoulda ... didn't!

"LA", junk mail collage postcard

"Coulda, Shoulda," ... didn't!
Ever been there?
I could have, probably should have, but didn't!
Still a little slow from the previous busy week ...
I skipped day class today to get organized.

A job due Wednesday, dinner meeting & a HBAL meeting,
need to prepare for this Thursday's class at Catalyst,
and organize for Eastside activity the following Wednesday,
get busy on "Flat Stanley" for Peyton and more.

Ever feel like this?
According to Marilyn, I think I must need to breathe?

Day 658: It's about size.

Today's token collage ...

magazine & junk mail collage

I've been trying to get more organized.
A constant challenge in a small space.
I am committed to ...
discarding, donating, selling or giving away.
I don't know about you, but I am...

In fact, it doesn't have to be shiny.
A case in point.
655 days ago I did a blog mentioning
my then 14 year old grandson and his size 13-1/2  shoes.
Not much of a blog, but it got me thinking.
Just yesterday I found the sketch I made ...
back then to support my theory.

I decided if we all had the same shoe size as our age ...
mine might look like this ...

But, this would be problematic ...
so I would have to roll them up to get in my car.

Made sense to me.

By the way, handsome grandson is now 16-1/2.
All 6'3-1/2" of him drove by to visit yesterday,
so I took a picture of him with my house guest,
flat Stanley.

Ans even flat Stanley was impressed with his shoe size.

Now if they don't have me committed after this blog post ...
I'm home free.
