I"'m dog-eared." by Dabby Gregory |
Today I read an essay (here) by Danny Gregory, a well-known artist with (in my opinion) a talent for writing. I am including his essay because it opened a door to memories that I haven't visited in quite awhile.
You see, back in the late 70's, early 80's I would drive into UCLA to study Transcendental Meditation with the campus group. They were kind, very serious, dedicated and many were involved with ongoing research. I decided to commit to learning, studied and in time was initiated, "took flowers to the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi" and received my mantra. All this while being teased by my husband at the time. But it did work, and was part of my life until it wasn't. I never meant to stop but we humans get busy and priorities change.
In a random talk with Grandhunk#2 last year I mentioned the above. Jacob listened but wasn't really interested until I mentioned that I had seen one of the senior members levitate. He was gobsmacked! "No way, Granma!" he said. I told him I was there, I saw it! He now thinks I am certifiable crazy, instead of my former normal crazy.
I think I hear you thinking, if it worked, why aren't you still doing it? Well, maybe I am taking it for granted since I still know my mantra and should be able to carve out time to do it again. I also know I should be walking and eating less? I do believe in the saying, if it is important to me, I will get it done, if not, I will make excuses. I still get this silly blog done daily, so it is possible?
With an impressive wingspan of roughly 9 feet across, American White Pelicans are one of North America’s largest birds. Despite their large size, these birds are very adept fliers.

Jacki, I love your collage. In my opinion the colors are typical for our time. At least here in Austria you don't find clear and bright colors in magazines or junk mail. I miss that.
BTW I also have a mantra. But it didn't work for me. Another thing we have in common, Jacki!
Your smiles again are fabulous. Thank you!
