Day 4851: Another Step-by-step card & Rime Ice Tree.

"Suspicious": junk collage, ink brush & digital.

The above was a current digital overall of an old drawing/collage.

Another Step-by-step card.

To Austria with Love.

Dear friend of many years, Elenor is a retired teacher and artist in Austria. Although we have never met in person, we chat almost daily through the blog. I feel like I know her favorites, and will try to work on a Christmas card for her, she enjoys a step by step.

1.

I started with a 5x7" Kraft card and envelope.

2.

I got this far before I realized it was upside down! ;op

3.

I turned it right side up and continued. Not really happy with it so far.

4.

Somehow the strip of script gave me hope.

5. (scraps)

I thought I'd share what my scraps are looking like about now? Every snippet is still in contention. It's funny how often the perfect scrap turns up. I save everything in progress.

6.
.

This is my final. Elenor, having taught physics and math seems to like structure, and minimalism. This didn't quite make it. I'd give it a B, but I think she might like it. This took about 2 hours, and I am tempted to try another now (10:36 pm) to see if I can do better?

❄️
This surreal frozen formation looks almost otherworldly — yet it’s entirely real. Brooks Range, Northern Alaska
🇺🇸
You’re seeing a wind-sculpted rime-ice tree, formed when freezing fog and relentless Arctic winds layer ice in one direction over many hours. These incredible shapes only appear in some of the coldest, most extreme environments on Earth.
A natural ice sculpture carved solely by the Alaskan winter.

Oh Jacki, such a sweet and unexpected surprise. My heart jumped with joy. You know exactly what I love. Thank you so much for spending so much time for me. Your collage turned out great.
The day started with some difficulties and even disappointments - my grandchildren could not come to see me - the boy tested positive with covid.
But then it started getting better. We bought a beautiful Christmas tree and had a nice chat with the lady from the farm. She even gifted us more twigs for my balcony and a bag of potatoes from their fields. Then my son phoned and we talked for a while to him and the boy. Another phone call with my sister in law let me know that my brother's health is improving. Yes, and now you made me so happy! Thank you so much, dear Jacki. I'm so grateful to you.
Now I can go to bed with a happy, thankful heart. What a gift!
Have a happy weekend!

Oh good, I had hoped you might like it. I am glad it was a part of bettering your day. Isn't it funny how things can turn around? I am praying that your grandson , being young, will have an easier and quicker time getting over covid. I have good friends who are dealing with covid now. Please take good care and enjoy your beautiful tree. Your collage was sent on it's way yesterday (12/4).
