Another Milestone.

This will be a little personal, possibly TMI but I need to record this for me. I apologize in advance if it is too much, just skip it?

Wednesday, December 24th at 4PM, at age 84, I will be baptized.

I wasn't baptized as a baby, or child. I don't think it was on my parent's radar. They did let me ride a church bus to Sunday school at a very young age, 3 & 4 with other neighborhood kids. It made me aware that God was with me, and that was something that stayed with me and I think, strengthened me for all my years.

My parents divorced when I was in kindergarten, and I lived at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy boarding school from age 8 through 11. I took comfort in the religion, and wanted to be Catholic. At age 10, with my roommate DeDe, we decided we could fix that. She got a manual and baptized me. We were both serious and did it by the book. We later asked a nun if someone did that, would it be real? She said if it was done sincerely, with good intentions, then it would be valid. We never told anyone, but I feel it has kept me close to God for all these many years.  I have tried to live my life as I felt God wished. Now at 84, I felt the need to make it final and public. Kinda like insurance?

In rural South Carolina, a man named Eliot Middleton found a beautiful way to honor his late father. Eliot, a former mechanic turned restaurateur, trades his famous BBQ ribs for broken-down cars. Then, in his spare time, he repairs them and donates them to people in need.
So far, he’s helped more than 30 families get back on the road, asking for nothing in return except the hope that others will keep kindness moving forward.
No big sponsors, no fancy program—just one man, some tools, and a heart full of compassion.
