Weekend Wows & TMI!
TMI alert: Saturday my alarm was set for 6am, but I was awake at 5am so started a load of laundry before best friend, Carole picked me up at 7:45am to drive to Cheryl's in Corona, where she drove us to Redlands. There was a referee clinics 9:30 - 11:30 prior to the opening.
I wanted to watch in preparation for our Inter-Dojo Demura TaiKai next Sunday, November 2, in Costa Mesa.
The Redlands Japanese Cultural Center celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 25, with an afternoon of performances, martial arts demonstrations, and community festivities at its new facility at 542 E. Stuart Ave.
The celebration ran from noon to 4 p.m. and featured live entertainment including Japanese dance, taiko drumming, and demonstrations of karate, kendo, judo, and jujitsu. Food and drinks will be available from local vendors such as 4Tino’s Tacos, The Chan Smokers, Harusha Coffee, The Donut Cart, J. Riley Distillery, and Escape Brewery.
The Redlands Japanese Cultural Center recently began offering a range of classes in karate, kendo, odori (traditional Japanese dance), judo, jujitsu, taiko drumming, and Japanese language. The new center aims to promote cultural exchange, education, and community connection through art & heritage programs. The center was developed by visual and martial artists Sabro Foster and Kevin Seishiro Suzuki to celebrate and preserve Japanese heritage through hands-on classes and cultural events.A terrific turnout on a beautiful warm Redlands afternoon. Great demonstrations, raffles winners announced all day, really good food and beverages, and best of seeing so many friends and meeting new ones. Carole, Cheryl and I started for the OC at 4:30. I was in hopes of seeing the Dodgers play when I got home, and I did. The next thing I knew, I woke at 4am still in tv watching position! After getting ready for bed, I checked on the blog to find that I still had some work to do, so I fixed it and was in bed by 5am. This time I slept till Sunday10am. We octogenarians seem to require a lot of sleep? Oh, have you ever been to ...
Grandhunks 2&3 and the beautiful Amamuelle had reservartions for us at 1 pm.

Best time for us is staying with grandkids, isn't it, Jacki? Thanks for the lovely pictures.
Today I was so lucky to get a visit by my daughter in law and the grandkids. As always the wanted to sew with the sewing machine (even the boy!) after lunch. And then of course it was time for making some art. I so love seeing how they use acrylics and how they are experimenting and trying out something new. And I always love laughing with them. What a wonderful day.
Wonderful, Elenor! I thought of you and knew you would be having a stellar day. Please take good care and enjoy the special memories.
