Japanese Village and Deer Park

Orange County is Ground Zero of themed amusement parks. The first one in the nation, arguably, was Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park. The first major park was Anaheim’s Disneyland, and the OC has seen water parks, safari parks, alligator farms and more.

Japanese Village park first opened in 1967 at 6122 Knott Avenue in Buena Park, CA. It was a Japanese-themed amusement park that featured shows and traditional Japanese buildings in an environment where deer roamed free (inspired by Nara Park). Its gate featured a torii.

The park featured Koi ponds, Japanese Gardens, Classic Tea House, The Dove Pavilion, Dolphin feeding, Home of the Fuji Folk, Pearl divers, lush landscaping, a Samurai show, a Karate demonstration shows, and more.

We visited the park in 1971, years before baby WonderWoman was born. We were impressed by the beauty and gentle atmosphere of the park, but also the skill and showmanship of the Samurai shows and even the dynamic traditional Karate demonstrations.

Jacki, I hope electricity is on again. As a physics teacher I let my students sometimes think about our use of electricity. As you said we all were surprised how much we rely on it.
I wish you a calm day so you can remember all details of the wedding. You must still be filled with beautiful impressions. Enjoy.

Thank you Elenor. Yea I am still weary but enjoying the sweet memories. Today I got up and watered my little yard, it was neglected during my trip, then I showered, washed my hair, did 3 loads of laundry and my nails. I have a mini-casserole heating and still need to go grocery shopping.
The electricity was off for some type of maintainance, as it was one day last month. They gave us notice, but I got my days mixed up. I didn't know you taught physics, that's impressive too. Several readers commented on how much they enjoy your photos, as do I. Take good care, the weekend is almost here again, already. ;o)
