Brazilian Mother Who Built a Library from Trash
In the favelas of São Paulo, Brazil, where poverty restricts access to education, Lucia Pereira, a single mother of three, noticed a heartbreaking gap - children with no books to read. Lucia began to collect the discarded books and magazines from trash bins and recycling centers, without money, but with fierce determination.
She cleaned, repaired, organized her small home and transformed her living room into a community library. Soon the kids in the neighborhood began to come to his house, with the desire to read, learn and dream.
"She turned the pages others discarded into stories that inspired hope."
The Lucia Library now boasts thousands of books and has inspired several young readers to pursue higher education. With the help of volunteers, he organizes storytelling sessions and literacy workshops, proving that with the power of education, even abandoned dreams can be reborn.
“His cloak was made of sheets, and his superpower was spreading knowledge."
Have you ever seen the majestic Markhor (Capra falconeri)? This striking goat lives in mountainous forests in Central and South Asia. It’s the largest species of wild goat in the world. Its signature spiral horns can be found on both males and females: Males use them to attract attention during mating season. The markhor—preyed on by wolves, lynxes, and snow leopards—typically remains hyper-aware of its surroundings, leveraging its exceptional eyesight and keen sense of smell to continuously scan the area for foes.
2. Distinctive spiral horns: Can grow up to 1.6 meters (5.2 ft) long, making them one of the longest horns among all goat species.
3. Thick, brown coat with white markings.
4. Long, shaggy beard.
