This, for me, is still a confusing time of year.

I'm still getting my days mixed up or interchanged.
Christmas is over, but some things are still undone.
Akesmashite Omedeto!
Wednesday I was lucky to be invited to have Ozoni with the Nomura's as is their tradition, and mine too since I got adopted into their family. It's one of the best days of the year on the first day of the year. A great way to start 2025.
Ozoni

This seaweed infused soup is called Ozoni, the first meal usually served on the first day of Oshogatsu, the Japanese New Year.
Jean, the matriarch, and her youngest daughter, Julie, cooked for days and served three areas of all kinds of glorious food. Eating goes on all day, starting before I arrived at noon and still going when I left at 4 PM. Seconds, thirds even, and all the while, multi-conversations, laughing and the dogs. We had four, Craig's Cody, largest in size, Julie's Kiah, next largest, Noel & Nova's Astro second smallest and Megan's Sakura, the tiniest & oldest at 16 (112?). All four were compatible and inside with us and enjoying the semi-chaos and fun. Eyeing the food.
The star of the show was 15 month old handsome Ronin, Megan & Ryan's son & Jean and Craig's favorite (only)grandson. I was going to try to list everyone and their relationships, but will just mention the names and you will have to use your imagination? Cast of characters include: Craig & Jean, Son, Brandon, & wife,Courtney, daughters Noel and Nova. Megan, husband Ryan, son Ronin. Daughter Julie. Craig's sister, Laurie and husband Mark. Nancy the carrot cake chef supreme and husband. Courtney's cousin, Lauren. And more. Aren't I lucky?

Hens Blush?

Hens blush! Yes, just like humans, their little faces redden in certain situations, both positive and negative. A new study found that hens fluffed their head feathers when they were content and calm and that blushing for a few seconds indicated a reaction to excitement — in positive situations like waiting to eat mealworms (center pic, above) – as well as fearful situations, like being captured (right pic, above). So while it is a cute notion, not every blushing hen is a happy hen!

Thank you Elenor, yes it was a lovely day, but I have been getting so tired. I need to appreciate even the downs as they are all part of life. Please take care.
